Hello,
The settings you quoted from Reviewers are the ones I used, only I used default, supl, admin, dun, mms, hipri for APN type.
I added the hipri because it was in the stock apn.

Rsotbiemrptson

Ok cool, I'll see if I can edit that....I'll share it if it get accomplished....

So I decompiled the framework....looking in that APN text file.....what am I editing?

I see this......

Am I editing what's next too T-Mobile Data?

NVM don't answer that, that's really my only option after looking at it closely

As for the long-press action, I'll look into that....hopefully it'll work out.

Hello,
If it is any help to you I believe the files that needed to be modded are PhoneWindowManager$7.smali and PhoneWindowManager.smali. All of my attempts end up in my phone not booting and I have to restore the originals.

Hello,
My advice would be to delete these

<apn carrier="T-Mobile Data" apn="epc.tmobile.com" mcc="310" mnc="260" type="default,supl,admin,hipri" state="readonly" />
<apn carrier="T-Mobile MMS" apn="epc.tmobile.com" mmsc="http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc" mcc="310" mnc="260" type="mms" state="readonly" />
<apn carrier="Tethering data" apn="pcweb.tmobile.com" mcc="310" mnc="260" type="dun" state="hidden" />

and create a new T-Mobile Data with the desired settings. I believe that the Tethering data one is the one that restricts you to the T-Mobile page. You might even be able to change the apn on Tethering data to epc.tmobile.com and be set.

I delete those then add what I pasted earlier from Reviewers thread, but it has to be in similar format as the original text was set up in order for it to read properly right?

Hello,
First I used the kitchen to Deodex the jars then I used Baksmali and Smali to decompile and compile the .dex file.

I changed the tethering info that would send the user to pcweb.tmobile.com to that epc.tmobile.com address. You think this will suffice? I also removed the MMS, seems to be merged with the T-Mobile US set up as the MMS settings are also included....

Ok I
l'll delete those....seems you're much more familiar with it than I am. My only question is.....would deleting the Tether APNs keep it from working, since there isn't settings for it? Or it doesn't matter?

Hello,
Yeah that looks pretty good. Recompile the apk and give it a test. If you don't install with a wipe you may have to restore your apns to default.

Zylith you already included the key remapping in 1.2? It looks like it...

---------- Post added at 03:50 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:49 PM ----------

Thanks for that bro! Pretty sure Zylith will see it, I'm going to add it to my personal build now...

As for the long-press action, I'll look into that....hopefully it'll work out. The key remapping is already done by Zylith....just gotta do the long-press action if it hasn't been done yet....

No it is not included. I am wondering if it is wanted. There is a android.policy.jar that is already working in the dev section that I could use.

I think a flashable update would be the best way to go.

Hello,
In order to get the Wi-Fi tether app from the market working in the /system/app folder you need to place the .so file from within the apk in to the /system/lib folder.
If you prefer the stock tether app you would need to edit a file within the framework.apk> res/xml>apns.xml and add in a custom apn. The xml needs to be converted, edited, then converted back (can’t help you there), but it can be done. Then the custom apn will be setup on install and can be selected. You might just be able to edit the default on to be the custom and not have to worry about selecting it. Hope that helps.

Rsotbiemrptson
this is something that I will look into soon

Cool...it's gonna be a while. Compiling framework for Android 4.0 takes editing some extra xml files.....with Sense, that's a pain....
when you get this together let me know. I will throw it on my phone to test- till you get yours.

Seems just putting the apk in the zip doesnt wok, can anyone tell me how to get friend stream?

I will look into this, btw did it work in 1.0? cuz right on on 1.3 i have it in the system/app folder and it is not showing up- there could have been a problem when I deodexed.

Thought I'd share, I have no WiFi hotspot, I used both the stock hotspot and WiFi tether free app and none of my devices see my device, however I can USB tether without any issue. So I'm not sure if it's my device (was working on pure stock rooted) or T-Mobile has blocked it. I've also used the setting new APN settings and still no WiFi tether. Any other ideas?

No, I looked through the zip and the friend stream apk wasnt in there, just the widget apk, and also, when you try to edit your contact card or profile in contacts it gives an error

The contacts card edit-you are the second person to tell me that... One post said hold then edit.

also i will be looking in to apk before I post 1.3.

I know this is unimportant but some people were asking about Weather Screen Animations. They are off by default. If you long press on the weather clock like your going to move it, drag it to EDIT at the top. Select Current Location or whichever city you want displayed then it will give you the option to turn on your animations.

It`s not only androidpolicy.jar - that mod is different to original version for 1.53 by blubbers since longpress menu is also part of the deal. You`ll see some comments to that in my thread ;)

I couldn`t test, whether it works on T-Mob ROM`s (most probable 1.77) yet, since I never used one.

---------- Post added at 07:49 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:33 AM ----------

Why do you want to start drama? Can't you handle this in a mature manner? Take care of it with a mod not the whole community this is just petty, childish, and stupid.

I agree and disagree...:D

I really understand why devs have a hard time these days, since it`s a lot of work to truly develop new ROM`s, Themes, tweaks and mods. I was in similar situations, when I was way more active for Milestone or DHD and saw tons of people just grabbing my code and design`s (which are not free to use anyway). I was also upset in the first place, but ultimately decided just to go ahead and do my work and share my experience with guys willing to learn.

It´s just a pity, that these days there are so many "zip dev`s" at XDA just grabbing existing stuff, removing some files and maybe adding others and announce these as "bloat-free" and "tweaked". Whenever I diff these ROM`s it`s really funny to see, what happened there. I`m not biased in this specific conflict, since I don`t know any details, so take my remarks as a general view. In any case I would be happy to see true dev`s (like Virtuous and many others) innovating stuff for our One S and not seeing a new ROM sharing 99,99% of the files with existing ROM, adding one single file and altering the build.prop ;)

Cool...it's gonna be a while. Compiling framework for Android 4.0 takes editing some extra xml files.....with Sense, that's a pain....

Just grab my modded apktool version from this thread, that fixes both plural errors in framework-res, but also decompiles classes fine in apks like systemui`

Hello,
If it is any help to you I believe the files that needed to be modded are PhoneWindowManager$7.smali and PhoneWindowManager.smali. All of my attempts end up in my phone not booting and I have to restore the originals.

You are spot on ;)

Just grab my androidpolicy.jar from my latest ALL IN ONE Mod in my Auto Brightness thread and diff these 2 smalis with androidpolicy.jar from a stock deodexed 1.78 build. I`m sure this will help fairly quick. Since existing 1.78 ROM`s still have stock jars (unlike 1.53 and 1.70 ROM`s, which nearly all used Virtuous as a base...), it`s easy to do.

Why oh why did I wasted my time with any other T-MobileUS ROM . All the widgets are present , this Rom is crazy fast and it has been presented by a humble dev. I love this Zydroid!

Thanks man for helping him out, it is good seeing someone actually trying to learn instead of like you say "Being a .zip Dev" there seem to be quite a few on here lately. But that's off topic I will stop. Thanks for the Help!

Hello,
In order to get the Wi-Fi tether app from the market working in the /system/app folder you need to place the .so file from within the apk in to the /system/lib folder.

You are talking about the framwork.jar file correct not a apk?

I don't know but this method seems really familiar to me, I can't remember from where but did read this concept somewhere else :)

    Where did you see that?

We've decided to go about this method is because we can't get APM and EQS to boot straight into the ROM from a fresh wipe. It just hangs at the boot animation. We discovered that booting into a stock ROM with our mods and stuff included aside from things like APM and EQS, we booted with no issues. So now we're slimming everything down even more and allow flashable add-ons. We see Tweak Machine and Aroma installer do pretty much that, but we're about keeping it simple and doing it a little different....:D

EDIT: If that comment was made for credit purposes....I still don't understand why people are so hell-bent on getting credit for something that we haven't even done yet....We give credit to where it's due. If we release something and you feel differently simply say it. People can't even contribute to the Android community without being scrutinized and judged by people. Lay off a bit and stop thread watching. If you're gonna say something, please just say it, and let it be. It's pretty annoying that people can be this way. It seriously takes the fun and motivation out of contributing....

If we use something like Tweak Machine or Aroma Installer, the creators will get the credit, definitely... But if we're providing individual flashable versions that we made, then that's something we made.

@mike - torxx is really a very nice and humble guy, so I`m sure that was just a misunderstanding or misinterpretation. I like the spirit you guys have in this thread, so keep the fire burning ;)

Aight. I'm just not into drama and confusion. I'm simple and too the point. That's how I like things and choose to keep it that way. Besides, i got a wife that complexes things enough lol, for me Android and the community is where I vent all that.

    Thanks!

I really like you Mike, I support your work and if you need something, you can contact me.
There was nothing serious behind me comment, sorry if it seems like I wanted to talk bad about your plan's!

I don't need fight, we all do not need it :)

Thanks for addressing that Torxx. It was just a big misunderstanding. And I agree we don't need to. Thanks for supporting bro, it definitely goes appreciated.

Good then back to the ROM now :)

    Lets be frank-

This rom started as a base for tmous roms -

There was no support from our current loved chefs-

Everytime I get a new phone I looked to xda for wonderful things for that phone. With the one s being shadowed by the One x that put us all at a disadvantage and there was not alot out there unless we wanted a uk rom-

I am just glad that I have support like mike to keep this rom running- "it started as a stock tmous rom- cuz there were no others" and the support of other dev's/chefs to help us take this and other rom's to new levels. So again to everyone- thank you for your help and support.
