Also for you: set your WiFi code area, turn off WiFi and then turn on it again. Try it and give me some feedbacks.

It was already set to US, so I tried WiFi Freq band and selected 5ghz only, but after turning off wifi and turning it on again, it not only didn't show the 5ghz, but the setting reverted to auto.

In the interests of isolating whether it is ROM related, I flashed the latest experimental leankernel, which I know that the 5ghz works, because I just came from PA running it, and it still does not show the 5ghz network.... Not a deal breaker cause I could care less about 5ghz... I actually get lower signal strength from the 5ghz band than the 2.4 (both running on frequencies that don't have any other ssids broadcasting on it, I'm sure it could be environmental etc, but whatever this isn't the appropriate forum for that...) But yeah. For kicks I tried different regions, and they only showed the 2.4ghz... So just figured I'd report back my findings.

yes. change code, disconnect, reconnect = nothing. disconnect, change code, reconnect = nothing. many reboots, cache clearings and any other number of typical troubleshooting has still resulted in it not working.

i go into the router, turn on ssid broadcast, ta-da, it connects instantly. disable broadcast, my phone drops it and says the network is not in range.

No problem man. We are here to help. And this is the best Rom out Imo. Especially with ak kernel.
