I tried to install a custom rom before deleted PG05IMG.zip

What happened was, I wiped everything and installed the custom rom (lightning rom 3.2) and the 3.2 green theme and rebooted.
It would freeze at the startup movie (stock video would be clouds, some green thing in this rom) so I did a battery pull, tried a few times, etc. no changes. i decided to just re-wipe and re-flash since that used to solve all my cyanogenmod problems on my G1 or D2x but because I didn't delete the pg05img.zip I couldn't get into recovery and was forced to update. Do I now have to re-root?
