is there a stock recovery available that i can flash in case i want to reset my phone or pull ota updates without flashing any zip files? i think the ota.zip that vernee released does not include a recovery, does it?

EDIT: there might be a possibility to extract recovery.img from the phone over adb. the problem is that you need to be rooted to do this but i am not, so i will leave a link down below. could someone who rooted his apollo try to get the recovery.img ?

You are right. There is no recovery.img inside the OTA update zip
I have made a custom recovery by myself. The pictures are the proof that my twrp works well.
This twrp method does not affect the original stock recovery.
Before to start the twrp by Fastboot, make sure you have installed the OTA 201701 update zip onto your Apollo.

Hello, Cleopatra
Just a couple of questions....
1.- In this TWRP "instalation" you ask adb to boot from an image is not in the telephone but in your PC? (Please, confirm)
2.- Instad using SuperSu for root, can Magisk take its place? Magisk seems to be a very promisory system.
Thank you very much. I do not have my piedce already to check myself. That is the reason of item 2.-

Your first question :
Fastboot to boot the recovery.img (TWRP) inside your PC. I confirm it.

Your second question :
Regarding Magisk, please keep in mind that you need also "phh's SuperUser" and "xposed-v87.0-sdk23-topjohnwu.zip".

Very soon I will have the Vernee Apollo in my hands to do all kinds of tests without asking anyone to be the test case.
The first most important target is to make a stock firmware flashable by SP Flash Tool.
The second most important target is to make a twrp flashable by SP Flash Tool.

I see you on 4pda.
1) "volume plus" + "power" simultaneously.
2) select the first line with "volume plus".
3) press "volume minus" to enter into recovery.

I suggest you to install "Quick Reboot (Root)" apk to enter more quickly into recovery mode.

WHAT ??? 40 minutes to make a backup ???
WAIT please ! Probably you are doing it wrong.

Questions :

1) Do you have selected ONLY Nvram, Boot, System and Data ?
2) What kind of microSD are you using ? Speed class 6 or speed class 10 ?

Where can I find the update zip ?

    http://www.vernee.cc/downloads-apollo.html

There are the two next zip :

    full_k15ta_a-ota-1482441792.zip

    full_k15ta_a-ota-1484567521.zip

The k15ta_a is typical of Vernee Apollo Helio X25

    answer

    Hello.
I had some problems with adb 1.4.2 installer, that did not work for me on Win7 and Win10 systems (both 64bit).
The command prompt said no file was copied and ended with this error:
ERROR: invalid command line parameter 'link\desktop\adb-installer.log'
So then I used older driver that worked for me "adb 1.3" and now I am sing 3rd version of moded ROM.

So now I have problems with camera and other things.
Internal camera app can use only .3gp format for video and only .jpg for pictures. Another camera apps from store can not record 4K video (when 4K is set, then I get only 640*480, FHD resolution is working normally). I do not know how to get RAW picture files. Is it even possible? GPS and Wifi (5GHz) is quite weak and positioning is slow.

The good thing for me is less battery drain at the moment.
Overall thanks for modding and reply.

The adb 1.4.2 installer works very well onto my Windows 7 x64 partition.

The camera problem is one problem we all have in common.

In my view, the Vernee Apollo has an excellent hardware.
Unfortunately, Vernee Apollo has a bad software.

It seems that Vernee brand has abandoned the Apollo Helio X25 project.
    No Nougat update done yet.

I did my best to improve the Vernee Apollo.
The 3rd version of modded rom seems to have solved definitively the battery consumption.
The battery is the most important piece in a smartphone.

Despite all the flaws of Vernee Apollo .... I am quite happy of it.
A contented mind is a perpetual feast, be happy with what you have got.
    ;)
