I also themed Amon_RA's Recovery RA-sapphire-v1.7.0G.
Install Instructions are found here [Recovery] [32A & 32B] [16-May-2010] RA-sapphire-v1.7.0
Download:
MegaUpload: Recovery.img
Mediafire: Recovery.img

I Installed it through recovery Because i have the new SPL So couldn't flash it through fastboot.

Via Recovery:

1. Copy recovery.img to the root of your sdcard
2. Boot into your current custom recovery (boot while holding HOME)
3. Connect your G1/mTouch 3G via usb to your pc/mac/...
4. In CMD go into your tools folder.

Type:
adb devices (to make sure that adb "sees" your device)
adb shell
#mount -a
#flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img

5. Then Reboot into recovery and you should the themed Recovery

Via Fastboot:
Must have an engineering SPL, Can't use New SPL.

1. Copy recovery.img to a location where fastboot can find it.
2. Boot your G1/myTouch 3G into fastboot mode (boot while holding BACK)
3. Connect your G1/myTouch 3G via usb to your pc/mac/...
4. In CMD go into your tools folder.

Type:
fastboot devices (to make sure that fastboot "sees" your device)
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot reboot

5. Then Reboot into recovery and you should the themed Recovery

Installation procedures:
Note: If you can install CM6 then you can install this ROM.
You must have a custom recovery image installed.
There is no SPL requirement, but Radio requirements are the same as if you were installing CyanogenMod 5 or 6. if you have a 2x or 3x radio dont mess with it. you're fine.
1.Move ROM.zip into SD Card
2.Enter Recovery
3.Flash Super Wipe(Mirror) Info found here
This will:
1) Call erase_image on CACHE, SYSTEM, USERDATA, and BOOT partitions
2) Mount /sd-ext (if it exists) and delete all files from it
3) Delete all files in the /sdcard/.android_secure directory which is where all the froyo apps2sd files live
4) Run e2fsck (file system repair) on the your ext partition
5) Log all output to the /tmp/wipe.log file (if you care)
4.Power off Phone
5.Boot back into Recovery
6.Flash ROM
Note:If you have
SPL -> 1.33.0013/1.33.0013d
Radio -> 2.22.27.08/2.22.28.25
Flash Kernel After ROM -> Kernel 2.6.35.10 – OC-UV-RAM-FP – Dream/Sapphire (32B) (Must be on New SPL + Radio 2708 Combo) (More Info on Kernel)
Skip if you don't
7.Flash Any Add-On (Optional)
8.Reboot To See ROM :D

I'm looking into that. I would also love to have more than one option to power off/reboot the phone :)

Whats the prerequisites for installing this and install instructions?

Have a Custom Recovery installed
No specific SPL Required
But Radio Requirements are the same as installing CM6
And, To install just Wipe & Flash from Recovery

Gio this is one of the coolest looking Rom I tried so far. I know you put a lot of effort on the theme and I can say you did a great job congratulation.

Anyway I use EZTerry's 2708+ enabled kernel (14MB) and I have to flash ezBiffTestKernel20101106-2708_S.zip after installing this Rom just in case someone have rebooting issue after flashing this rom.

Thanks for that! Do I need to partition my sd card first?

This is for Froyo native a2sd i havent been able to get ext to work yet

    Hallo,

can i have this ROM also with german language?

    THX

So far it's only in English and spanish. I dnt know how to add languages but ill look into it.

about flashing RA-sapphire-v1.7.0? mod you made, i have rom manager already
how do i go about flashing the themed version if i already have RA-sapphire-v1.7.0?, the link doesnt really tell me how to flash over what i already have ie not the themed version. can you give me a fool proof method

I flashed it through recovery Because i have the new SPL So couldn't flash it through fastboot.

If you have an engineering SPL you can flash through Fastboot

    5. Then Reboot into recovery and you should the themed Recovery

    new android market 2.26

I got it, Themed and adding it into the next Update

I would like to understand something about my phone. I'm hoping to actually learn something, not just get a quick fix.

First, a quick terminology question: is it correct terminology that an HBOOT and a SPH are the same thing? (If not, which one is called the "boot loader"?) Now, on to my question...

I have a MyTouch 3G, with the new Official OTA Froyo 2.2.1 with this HBOOT / SPH:

    SHAPPHIRE PVT 32B SHIP S-ON G
    HBOOT-1.33.0013 (SAPP30000)
    CPLD-10
    RADIO-2.22.28.25
    Oct 21 2009,22:33:27

I was able to root this official Froyo install using SuperOneClick 1.5.5 under Windows. I am already able to boot into the ClockworkMod Recovery Image.

But now when I try to run Cyanogen 6.1.0 Stable, I get a reboot loop. When I try Cyanogen 6.0.0 Stable, I get a stuck-at-splash-screen. Good thing I did a Nandroid backup! Now I am back to the Official Froyo, with a Nandroid Restore.

Here is what I don't understand:

I've read that my HBOOT, which says "SHIP S-ON" above, means I have a "Shipping" SPH with "Security On". I think that is called a "perfected" SPH because it is somehow digitally signed to work only with the official Froyo OTA ROM image from T-Mobile.

From reading about other phones, like the Nexus One, it seems like I need to "unlock" this SPH before I can use a custom ROM. The Nexus One has a "fastboot oem unlock" command for this, but other phones require finding a leaked ENG (Engineering) SPH file. At the Unlockr website the first thing they say to do is install the "Original SAPPIMG.nbh", which I think is an unlocked SPH...?

    theunlockr.com/2010/04/26/how-to-root-the-htc-mytouch-3g/

Is it true that my SPH is "locked"? Why are people saying they can run this awesome custom ROM without changing the SPH version, given that this is a "locked" SPH?

Note, with the stock Official Froyo OTA, everytime I reboot I lose my ClockworkMod Recovery install and then I must install it again using the ROM Manager. I think that is an effect of the official Froyo ROM, and not of the SPH. One forum poster said this bug will go away as soon as I get a working custom ROM running. Is that correct?

And finally, if it really is true that this locked, "SHIP S-ON" SPH file can support a custom ROM, then I presume that my Cyanogen reboot failures are caused by incompatible radio versions. Can someone explain which kernel updates I need to install, and why? Do these kernel changes survive a Nandroid backup/restore, or are they one-time updates? Will they break my Official Froyo OTA install, which is my only working install right now? None of the other reading I've done has said anything about custom kernel updates... I was under the impression that the kernel was part of the ROM, and thus did not need to be independently upgraded.

Can someone explain? Again, I emphasize that I want to understand, so that next time we get an awesome custom ROM I understand what to do.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank You!

From what i know Hboot and SPL are the same thing. (Correct me if I'm wrong)

I have the same info but different radio

    SHAPPHIRE PVT 32B SHIP S-ON G
    HBOOT-1.33.0013 (SAPP30000)
    CPLD-10
    RADIO-2.22.27.08
    Oct 21 2009,22:33:27

I am able to flash custom ROMs including CM 6.0.0, 6.1.0 and the nightly builds but since i have the new SPL/Radio i have to flash a 2708+ kernel so it boots without bootloops. Same with this ROM, if i dnt flash the kernel after the ROM and try to boot it up it bootloops. So im thinking that all you have to do is flash a 2708+ Kernel and that should fix the bootloops.
It has to do something with the new SPL/Radio that dosen't support the ROMs kernel.

Can anybody else not get 1.8 to install? Downloaded it a number of times & keep getting "installation aborted" after it tries to verify the package. Coming from 1.7 which installed fine.

    Cheers

    J

bought two sets of audio adapters mini usb to 3.5mm jack for this phone, but they don't seem to work. they are plugged in, phone does not seem to recognize them and music is playing on the speakerphones.
could it be because of any software problems. or must the problem lie in the adapters being faulty? I read that earlier there were problems with adapters on the 1.6v of Android, but did not find any complains for newer versions of android.

otherwise thanks for the great rom!

I have the original mini usb to 3.5mm jack that came with my phone. Its working fine for me.

    Edit:
Come to think of it my Headphone icon dosen't show up when i plug in my headphones.. But i can listen with my headphones.

    Working on this.

Thanks very much for the links Gio! I have a question:

    Does your rom support Apps2sd?

    Enter this in terminal:

    su
    pm setInstallLocation 2
    reboot

This is case sensitive. This sets the SD card as the primary install location. So you can move an app to SD, this also makes app's installed directly to SD.
