I don't know what to say about the "Not a valid win32 executeable" unless you are using the x64 version on a 32 bit machine.
Thanks for all the responses guys
I have now managed to get the tools to run without the "not valid error" (all Bback up tool versions) which means I have now been able to set the relevant paths
Using Zune 4.8 & WPUpdate 4.8
I am still getting
System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'Interop.WM7UpdateLib, Version=4.8.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.File name: 'Interop.WM7UpdateLib, Version=4.8.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null'

Note: There is some performance penalty associated with assembly bind failure logging.
To turn this feature off, remove the registry value [HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Fusion!EnableLog].
Any ideas ?
Thanks again everyone

for responding to my problem and trying to help
I have now got the BU tool to work.
I am always amazed at the time and effort people put in to helping others with less knowledge and it makes this forum great
FYI
Not sure why I was getting the "not valid error" as I never had in the past - I did a system restore (noobish I know) to before the time I stared getting the error and that fixed it.
The other error was fixed by matching up the updatewe.exe & zune versions and poinitng the BU tool to the scorrect locations.
Thanks again - your help is most apprecited
I can't get this to work with the latest version of zune and v1.9.
What files do I need to replace to get full backup?
Can someone upload them?
I have a 64bit version of Win7
Thank you
On the "not a valid win32" blah...
I need to try something. I am wondering if folks with a 32 bit OS are installing the 64 bit phone tools and the test for what version that is (launching updatewp.exe) is in fact what is throwing that error and causing this problem....

Hi All,
I have a Dell Venue Pro upgraded to Mango. I have been having problems with the Dell phone's speakers, so Dell sent me a replacement unit. Question is, can I backup the faulty phone using this tool and then restore the backup image to the new replacement Dell phone?
Should I upgrade the new replacement Dell phone to Mango before I do the restore?
Just wondering if this can be done as I would hate to lose all my Text Messages. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
Ringo
Well that sucks! Is there any way to transfer text messages from one Windows Phone 7 to another?
Hi guys,
Before I go down a rabit warren I would just like to ask a few questions about this tool.
I did something really dumb with my phone (Samsung focus)http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?p=18679740#post18679740
However the phone is still booting etc. I have about 4 different backups that I made a backup onto my USB drive of this phone when it had the right ROM.
My questions are:
1. Can I use this tool to restore my phone with the backups I already have on my USB drive?
2. I read all 64 pages of this thread and am a little confused about something but thought I would ask - does 1.9 work with the latest Zune?
Thank you once again

Got v1.9 working point it to my archive backups, mark the archives as active but no matter how many of them I select (got 8 backups) I get "No restore point found!" - The sizes of the backups vary from 400mb to 8.6gigs for my Samsung Focus.
I am pretty sure I have complete backups here.
Any advise?
If you do the restore via commandline the error is probably "Version Mismatch" (updatewp.exe /restore)
Can you get back to 7712? You might be able to get this to load if you are 7712 instead of 7720.
Edit: I downloaded 4.7, extracted the MSI for the zunewmdu and found the file with out having to install 4.7 over my 4.8 install.
I zipped it up and attached it to this post, if you download it, please hit thanks for me !
