[Q] HELP ROOT cherry mobile W100 1Ghz snapdragon

Hello developers and members:

I would like to ask help to root my device called CHERRY MOBILE W100 with the following specs:

CPU: 1ghz snapdragon qualcomm (245.76-1008.0Mhz)
ARMv7 Processor rev1(v7)
Cores1
Architecture: 7
BogoMIPS: 398.67
Hardware: QRD MSM7x27a SKU3
Revision: 1
Screen resolution: 320 x 480
3.5 screen
IPS display
GPU Vendor: Qualcomm
GPU Renderer: Adreno (TM) 200
GPU Version: OpenGL ES 2.0
Memory size:512 ROM 512 RAM

I tried to root it through Unlockroot, Z4Root and 1click root tools but failed... someone help to root this little phone... please

Try gingerbreak 1.2 or 1.3

thank you so much for the reply, but it does not work, it just saying "this device will reboot upon success"... then do nothing. Any other method to root? thanks in advance.

I have released an exploit that works for some late 2011 - early 2012 android devices with a snapdragon cpu and running version of android around 2.3.5 - 2.3.7. I don't have enough posts to be allowed to put a link in this forum. You can type "Optimus Elite root with an apk" into your google machine and end up at the place where I released the exploit and try it out on your device.

Thank you so much for the method... I tried it and follow all the instruction, but sad to say i got the following error message in my attachment.

Those errors are expected. The exploit only works 1 time by default and you have to reboot your phone to use it again. But you only need it to work 1 time. From that output, your phone is definitely vulnerable. It may take some fiddling around to get the correct addresses to make it work. If you know how to use adb and are up to it, shoot me a pm and we can meet up on irc and get it working.

Again thank you so much, YES i will do that, i will PM you after i finish downloading Android SDK and Java SE Development kit...so that it will be easy for both of us to configure what's wrong with this device. God Bless!!

Yes, this phone has been successfully rooted with a modified version of Poot. I can't post links but google the same thing I told the other guy to google and you'll end up at the Poot thread. I have a link to a .apk in the first post that was used to root somebody's w100.

Way to be persistant and figure it out! Its a great thing root opens up and after that the addiction starts, also thanks to all who contributed and provided the different root methods! Thats why this site is the best!

To anyone successful in pooting, please before doing anything else backup you stock partitions/ images.

Easy way to do this is using romdump over HERE

And kindly upload the somewhere with checksums.

Sorry about that, i figure if i will attach some error message will help a developer to figure out what is goin on with the rooting method. Again my apology.

Right now i am trying to root it again with the same method.. i will give some feedback as soon as i finish downloading. thank you so much for the help. God bless!!

Any method that uses zergrush/ psneuter - like superoneclick, z4root, etc - will now ALWAYS fail on newer (2012) patched GB roms like on the w100. Don't waste your effort using the same method.

Instead try the newer poot solution posted above - it is reported to be hit or miss, but at least now there is a chance it will hit unlike zergrush etc which are guaranteed fails.
