Hello everybody, since yesterday i've been experiencing a very weird problem. If i try to open the settings of my google account the entire settings app crashes. No other account (samsung, whatsapp, twitter and so on) gives the same problem. I'm on a rooted 5.0.1 OJ2 TW with TWRP 3.0.2 installed...i tried to wipe everything and make a hard reset from recovery but, after hours of putting things back to normal, the problem is still there. I also tried to boot in safe mode and the problem is still there. Any ideas what may be causing it? thanks!

I have exactly same error, just for Google accounts (when I choose Google Account - Settings app crashing). I made factory reset - same. I ran in Safe Mode - same. It looks like Google problem. I cant get to Sync settings for Google accounts but Sync is working (i can sync contacts with google account).
Samsung Note 3, Android 5.0 (no newer version for me), no root.

Google Apps update automatically regardless of what package you flash.
So if it this is caused by the latest Google update, then there is no use in waiting for another package.
I too am having the same problem. Updated to Android 5.0.1 on my Galaxy S4, and now, when I go to Settings-Accounts-Google, I get the message "Unfortunately, settings has stopped" message. I have tried booting into safe mode - same message. Factory reset - same message. I was even in an online chat earlier today with Samsung support, and everything I've already tried, they've had me try. They want me to now send in my phone and pay them to look at it. I feel it's not the phone and something happened in the OS update. Co-worker did the update this weekend and she has the same problem.
Stock Galaxy Note 3 and same problem. I don't know when it started to happen... I realised that I had the problem when I went to Contacts and it was empty! I rebooted the phone and all of them were there again. Then I went to Settings>Accounts>Google to synchronise everything and that was when I had the problem. I checked that the phone has updated Google Docs and Google keyboard recently. I tried to clear the data for those apps to no avail...
I guess google will update whatever app is creating the problem soon if it's happening this much...

Solution to this problem involves uninstalling updates to google settings and going back to the previous version. Instructions found in this link thanks to Pho3nX: http://xdaforums.com/showpost.php?p=66877291&postcount=7536&nocache=1
I'd do it if my "Uninstall updates" wasn't greyed out so it's impossible for me. I think i'll simply wait for Google Services to update itself to a newer version and hope that it will be fixed. But thanks again for your explanation!

In the link provided, it says that if it's greyed out, then, disable it or turn it off. A prompt would appear, click on YES, then another prompt, UNCHECK ANDROID DEVICE MANAGER, and it should revert back to the factory setting version of google settings.
I did it and it worked for me too... The only problem was the constant notification from Hangouts which required the updated version of Services. This is, to me, more annoying than the main problem so I went back to the 9.083 version and I'll wait for the update. Thank you for your help!

I just realised that my contacts disappear now and then. It's "fixed" rebooting the phone but it's very annoying because it happens a few times a day. I tried to disable the contacts sync going to the settings through the Gallery app, but it's not working. I have disable all syncs except the calendar... Let's see what happens...
I guess this problem is related to Google Play Services as well...

Nice find, fixed my GTI9505
Nice find on xda developers forum. Once you follow instructions, find your application manager & scroll across to disabled apps. Scroll down to Google play services & re-enable it. Log back in to Google play
Note: Google maps & Inbox by Google whinge about needing updated version of play services (may be other apps as well)

@up disable and re-enable works only for a while. I discover this solution right after bug. But after few minutes (maybe after first sync) bug return... Im afriad thats its incompability with Samsung Firmware (no problem on Google side) and we will stay with that problem because lack support of the Samsung... :crying: This bug is alsom on my Note 3.

Worked for me by uninstalling previous updates for Google play services. was able to access Google account. when i reinstalled new updates again, again settings was crashing. probably Google issue, should be updated from them if everyone is facing them.

I went through the Google Settings in the Google folder in the App Drawer and that worked for me.

And yes you can uninstall update but then Gmail requesting update to work so it is some kind of circle.Google messed it up.

It seems to be a problem with a Google Play Services update. There is an alternate method to access Google Account settings. Run the stock Gallery app. Hit Menu button, select Settings from the drop down. What that guy said (quoted). Worked perfect.
Also I did find that if you do the whole uninstall routine, you can change your sync settings and then re-update Google Services that your settings will still be there. However with the Gallery backdoor to them I guess there's no need for that.
