Just installed 2.2 :) what a good rom this is!

Have no issues with WiFi btw!

I do have a question about the ROM, not sure if this should be asked here or in the A2SD topic.

I like to use Mount2SD, since it's a more modern approach than A2SD and LinkSD, it works with this rom, but not all the features. This is due to the old style of sysinit in the rom.

here is the log:
Mounts2SD is currently running in safe-mode and some options is therefore hidden/disabled. In order to use all of the options of the script, your ROM must use the sysinit execute method of handling init.d scripts. Your ROM is currently using the sysinit service method which is highly unstable.

and the quote from the topic:

As of version 2.2.0, m2sd has a safe-mode state. This is an automatic state that is used when the script can't detect a correct sysinit method. The correct way to execute init.d, is to add "exec /system/bin/sysinit" to the init.rc file and of cause create the script sysinit that will execute init.d

The old way is to create a service for init.d in init.rc.
The problem with the service is that it is executed while the rest of the boot process is working. This means that moving things like /data/data and /data/dalvik-cache will create problems, because the system will keep trying to rebuild the moved content to it's original path while m2sd is moving it.

The sysinit script executed with the exec command however, will stall the boot process until all of the init.d scripts has been executed. That means that m2sd can move the content and bind the original path to the sd-ext path before the system starts it's work.

The Safe mode state will disable dalvik and data no mater what the config says to avoid these problems. So if your ROM runs m2sd in safe-mode, write to the ROM dev's and ask them to include the more correct way of handling init.d

Could I persuade you to update the init.d part of this awesome rom?

I flashed 2.2 last night, as an update (just cleared Dalvik cache and fixed permissions) and it is running very smoothly so far. All of my frequently used apps run properly and it seems like a little faster. Too early to tell about battery life, though.

Thank you, Tytung :)

Launcher

Thanks ty.! This build is great.! :D

For some people who are worry about absence of launcher settings like me can use the following settings.apk in ROM which gave me expected results for me.!:)

It is modified version of the settings.apk from previous build.! (modified means added some new things found on new ROM's settings.apk)
Hope our great cook will not fire me for this.!;):D

As I'm little bit of noob please do it at your own risk. But I assure it works for me & can live with it until tytung fix it.! :p

To change open the ROM zip file with 7zip. Go to system -> app and find settings.apk. drag it to somewhere on your pc as a backup.
Then delete it from the ROM(opened in 7zip).
Then simply drag the following settings.apk into the ROM opened in 7zip.
Close 7zip. And now can install the ROM with launcher settings!
Thats it.!:)

Just a temporary measure till our chef fix it!

If any problems occur please revert to the original one as the same way from backup.

P.S.
tytung has fix it.! Thanks!

Gpu Rendering | zram | KSM | etc.

Dear Tytung,

can you please give an advice, which settings are the best ones for:

  • Force 2D Gpu Rendering -- on / off
  • ZRAM deactivated/ 10%/ 18% / 26%
  • KSM on/off

thank you!

Hello everyone.

I tried to install some ICS roms on my device. But all of them will not work.
Now i was trying to install this ICS rom.

I have done a clean installation:

Flashed hspl 2.08,
Flashed 2.15.50.14 Radio Rom,
Flashed Task29 and MAGLDR

System Layout 5MBCache and 200MB System.

Everything works fine after the first reboot from installation.

But now my HD2 is not starting. It allways hangs by Nexus Spalshscreen. It seems like a kind of loop. The splashscreen is running, but nothing happens then. Since 10minutes i see only the Splashscreen...

Can anyone help me?!

Does anybody know why my battery stops charging at 90% and I get green led? How to fix it?

Sent from my NexusHD2 using XDA

Upgraded from 2.0. So far the ROM is overall smoother, but the YouTube playback in Browser is still not working (the was a stuttery picture in 2.0, now there's only audio) and Facebook in Browser still has the "Touch Problem". You want to scroll and there's a delay from about a sec until it starts scolling, but than it's smooth.

240p youtube videos in browser work ok.360p or more are work very slowly.First comes audio and then picture.Videos in gallery and youtube app finally start to play immediatelly. Also hw h264 video decoder for mp4 videos works good. I think that after this great rom the only thing that we dont have compared to gingerbread is a better flash player and 720p video playback
Tytung thank you for your great work

Tytung, out of curiosity, where is the MAC address assigned, and how can it be changed? I've tried using ifconfig and iplink but the change seems to only apply to the terminal session in which I make the assignment; other apps still use whatever is assigned by hardware or the OS. I wouldn't mind a reboot to make a more permanent change if that's necessary.

TIA
Walt

With r3 kernel, you get the real WiFi MAC (the same MAC on WinMo) which is unique, so you don't need to change it.
