Custom Rom for HTC Desire S (HTC Saga)

*NEW*

this is the changelog for v0.6.0:

ROM is cooked with the newest Version of dsixda's HTC Android Kitchen 0.177

better compression scripts

complete rebuild from new source HTC WWE 1.48.707.1

hopefully comes via OTA update from RomManager

superuser 3.0 beta4 & new su script

reduced all mods to the stock rom, real clean sense 2.1 and android 2.3.3

reduced rom size to 250MB by removing stuff and put them into add-on packages

all sense 3.0 content gets his own add-on (lockscreen & weather, cam, sms, 3D launcher, 3D widgets etc.) and if possible a add-off to safely remove mods

more add-ons made for better customisations (footprints or locations, google apps, sense 2 add-offs for cam and weather)

cleaned up etc/init.d/ scripts

added new features to etc/init.d/ scripts (launcher perfomance, memory tweaks, cpu tweaks for stock kernel)

removed custom kernel, stock htc kernel is used

package for UOT kitchen to mod battery, colors, window animations, transparency, fonts, bootanimations etc.

package to remove framework-res mods and get absolute clean stock rom

removed wifi range fix and adhoc support cause of old sources

new market version 3.0.27

new google video and music app (for those who are interested)

google talk with voice & video chat

added some tweaks to the build.prob
wifi.supplicant_scan_interval=60 (old 15) (this caused that the phone didn´t spend so much time on scanning for WiFi conections)
dalvik.vm.heapsize=48m (old 32m) (since we have soooo much RAM on our device let´s pimp this a little up)
some tweaks for mobile connections. this should improve network speeds. this should perform better if you are on edge and give some more speed on 3G.

removed following apps
Updater.apk – we can´t use HTC OTA´ Updates – also battery drain
HtcCompressViewer.apk – stupid zip file viewer with NO features
FieldTest.apk – a stupid app with no sense
HtcFeedback.apk – we won´t tell HTC that we have a cooler Rom than the original one
HtcLaputaInstaller.apk – disabled the Laputer Launcher and doubbled HTC Car Launcher in App menu
SoundRecorder.apk – HTC Voice Recorder still works
Protips.apk – we are pros… these tipps are stupid
HtcTipWidget.apk – the app is the same like Protips.apk

packags to remove sense 3.0 cam, if there are problems and revert back to sense 2.1 cam
package to use old (Sense 2.1) and new (Sense 3.0) weather app sounds
package to use old (Sense 2.1) weather app with kindom lockscreen
package to "wipe all" with update.zip in recovery

for all who might think they have battery issues please follow this workaround to reset the battery log correctly. if you dont know how take a look HERE

Cool - congrats for 1st custom

Did the most of the things manually - and have no idea what the deodex thing is.

I would be in mood to help you - but I'm no dev so I can't help. Didn't even know where to begin..

Differnt kernel with OC and "smartass - gov" [this govenor from erasmuxx works on hero perfect: performance and good battery] would be nice. But no idea how to deal with freq-tables..

Wishlist

CM-parts - with possibility to change lockscreen
(but I think it's not possible with the htc2.3.3 cause it'S made for aosp)

this is a little update to my progress so far...

i found out that there seems to be a problem with some keys i used to sign that ROM.
i could´t install googlemaps, flash and the HTC widgets from market/HTC Hub without signing them with the key i used in my ROM.

workaround:

- try to download the apps from market/HTC Hub
- if installation fails look into the /cache partition, there are the downloaded apk files
- copy them to sdcard
- use zipigner 2 to resign the apk´s with "test-keys"
- install the apk´s with filemanager

or resign them on you PC/Mac with your prefered tool, like kitchen or something and install them via adb.

so if you have that problem too just download the app "zipsigner 2" from android market.

i allready fixed that issue on the upcomming first update to my ROM, but this will take some little time more cause i can´t finish everything because i had to work a lot at the moment and i want and have to use my smartphone as a smartphone on working days. need something that is safe and solid, hope you understand that ;-)

No... My Rom is signed with test-keys... Not with the official HTC keys.
That's a big difference.

S-On users have no possibility to flash my Rom until there is a way to root it and get custom recovery running.

Im trying to port over coredroids desire hd rom but cant test without s-off.
Feel crippled

When are we going to get some dev support in rooting and s-off on this device?

quick update:

just added the new google talk app with voice and video call support which comes with android 2.3.4 to the nexus devices.

it works very well from phone to phone, but have problems to the browser plugin for gmail. but i think thats related to my macbook. google wrote in the documentation that there are problems with the buildin isight cam.

so if you know somebody who uses a nexus s or nexus one or any other device running 2.3.4 (like CM7.1) or 2.3.3 (most custom rom´s like CM7) and has a front face cam you can do very good video calls with it.

will be added in the update for the ROM which i hope to get finished this week

this issue is already fixed in my build ;-) but i will have no time the next days to repack everything for an update. sorry :-( job is eating most of my time actually.

but you can use the "workaround" i wrote on the 1. page. this will let you install googlemaps and flash.
