hello,
so this is my port of the QuickRemote flashable on all non-LG custom Roms.
it's been up on sefnaps thread for a while but i decided to make a new one to avoid confusion.
Thanks to:
@sefnap for the initial port
@FiendFyre for helping to bring the missing remotes back

PROJECT IS DEAD! (BUT STILL WORKS)

info:

-extracted from leaked kitkat build
-reduced size by removing unneeded help videos and optimizing pngs
-fixed all graphical issues because of porting
-works with all ROMs that have init.d support (or use universal init.d)
-widgets not working (yet)

installation:
-just flash the zip with your recovery
-it tries to detect the device, but if you still miss remotes you can flash AT&T or Verizon zips after the QRemote
-reflash after ROM not necessary on most roms
-if you have problems just let me know (with logcat in case of a crash)
-to clear things up: you don't need to change build.prop unless you have problems.
-your old remotes might get lost if you come from another QuickRemote apk
-does not work with ART

Changelog:

V8:
-disabled widgets and non functional settings
-lowered min SDK to 16 (for testing)
-simplified internal EULA skip

V7:
-fixed missing remotes by setting additional props
-added optional operator overriding
-fixed AT&T U-verse remote not working (bug introduced by LG)

V6:
-PNG optimization

V1-5:
-stuff i don't remember

Download:
QRemoteG2_v8.zip

Uninstall:
QRemote_uninstall.zip (flash in recovery)
Force Carrier Coding: (only flash if necessary!)
AT&T
Verizon

What about those who have the script running from a previous version? Do we need to delete it first? I would appreciate an update instruction. Thanks for supporting.

update should work with no problems as it removes all files that could have been left by an old installation (except data).
i update the instructions

No worries, I had to revert back anyway, since today's nightly has some bugs

You do specifically say KK but unless something has changed since a few days ago, this works fine on JB as well on my AOKP 4.3.

So feel free to try it people, but as always, if you're putting something in /system have a recovery plan ;)

Will this work on the nexus 5 running an aosp rom? It gives the error "no suitable remote found."

Riego,

I really want this latest Quick Remote app on my Optimus G Pro. Can I go ahead and try it??

Just in case if this fails, I don't want to lose out on the older version of quick remote that is already there.
So a nandroid backup before flashing and restoring it if it fails would help me revert back to original right??

I was hoping to get V8 so the widget it removed as it doesn't work anyway, I don't like having stuff installed with features that doesn't work. Doesn't work with ART but hopefully that can be fixed now when the english 4.4 roms are rolling out.

Other than those two it works great for me.

i'm with you. i just had a really busy real life lately.
so i will release v8 as it is in the changelog today or tomorrow.
that is definitely going to be the last one as i'm on nexus 5 now :D
i'm not able to test v8, but i can still work on it if something goes wrong.
about ART: this is already a port from a kitkat rom. so don't expect something working with ART soon... the problem is without modification the apps work just fine, but as soon as you change smali code and recompile it just won't run with ART. it's probably because of some tool in the chain not built for ART, but i don't know.

so this is untested v8: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5oN6i68oB0RWFNwb0NaRFZ2M0E/edit?usp=sharing
can someone test it and report back if everything works? (flash at your own risk!)

This isn't intended to work for 5.0+ devices (though there is a zip available somewhere) -- I'll link it if I can find it.
