How to Root Asus zenfone 5 kitkat (4.4.2)

Root with your own risk


Warning : I will not be held liable for any damage on your device. It may void your warranty.
For kitkat only JB may not work. Before root kindly backup your data.

You need for this rooting method
1. Root z5 kitkat v2
2. Intel driver
3. USB Cable
4. Windows pc
I am using windows 7 for this work.

1. Download first Intel driver on your pc extract it and install it.

2. After installed, connect your phone to your pc using usb cable. Don't forget to enable debugging mode. To do that, go to settings>about>software information>build number (tap 7 times to enable developer option) then, go back to settings>developer options>usb debugging (enable/check it).

3. After update, Test for authorized connection between pc and phone. Go to downloaded rootz5kitkatv2 on your pc and click files>hold shift + right>choose open command window.

4. Then cmd will prompt. Then type " adb devices" hit enter. The left side is your serial number and the right side is the word "device" it means your good to go.

5. If the word "unauthorized" will appear instead of "device" then youre not good to go. So unplugged your phone from pc and reconnect again. A prompt from your phone will appear. Just check allow always to continue.

6. Please read the instructions carefully. These time we will root your phone. Now, stay connected to your pc with your mobile and open the file "rootz5kitkatv2" that you download file. Double click "root-zenfone5-ww" or "Root-ZenFone5-en"

7. The bat file will open and the rooting process is now starting. Your phone will reboot 5 to 6 times. Just press any key to continue. Wait for some more time

8. Last reboot will appear, check your phones app drawer, if you can see SuperSU, congrats! you are now rooted.

9. To survive root access during OTA updates, go to supersu>settings>enable pro. Once done, go back again supersu>settings>enable survival mode.

If you want unroot see supersu "full unroot" or zenfone root toolkit bat file.

Tested By me with my zenfone 5 501CG

thanks sir,. it's work for me :)

got little comfused, coz in the img you share it click "Root-ZenFone5-ww" and my FW is WW too, but when i search the file from the rar you share (i download frome link mediafire), there is no "Root-ZenFone5-ww" but there is "Root-ZenFone5-en",. so i click that and do the rest of tutorial,. and work

My luck, I just bought new Zenfone and found this topic immediately.
So, I don't have to spend time to mess with adb command.

Open rootzenfone5kitkat folder
find UnRoot-Zenfone5-cht.bat
or ------------------------en.bat

yeah its same
or u can full unroot via super su app
super su - settings - at the bottom full unroot , click on that
and done

uhh hard reset ?
enter the droidboot
in off condition
hold vol down _ power (make sure u have 15 + battrey left ) if not u cant enter droidboot system
there was a button called "factory reset"
navigate : vol up or down
select : power
navigate to that factory reset and press the power button and *poof* all data resetted )

First install " intel drivers" on your system ( which os or you used ? xp or win 7 ) i used for this rooting method window 7.

First install " intel drivers" on your system ( which os are you used ? xp or win 7 ) i used for this rooting method window 7.

I add "intel drivers" download link. download and install it first on your system.

I rooted my zenfone 5 using the mentioned process , everything went fine till the cmd says :-

Flash official recovery and relock bootloader for future upgrade

< waiting for device>

    (if you have installed xposed framework or Lucky Patcher then you have to follow these steps before updating 2.21.40.44_xxxxxxxx_xxxx release-keys)
    for those who have xposed installed on Zenfone 5 the latest update will fail
    but here is the solution for that
    open the .zip package of firmware you have present on your Zenfone 5
    for example the UL-ASUS_T00F-ww-V2.21.40.30-user.zip
    open it using winrar and navigate to system/framework
    find the files

    1. core.odex
    2. core.jar
    3. services.jar
    4. services.odex

    drag them out on your desktop
    now copy them into your internal storage
    now use a file manager like ROOT EXPLORER and navigate to /system/framework
    delete the

    1. core.odex
    2. core.jar
    3. services.jar
    4. services.odex

    because these are patched by xposed framework and wont let the system to update
    now after deleting the patched files
    move the files

    1. core.odex
    2. core.jar
    3. services.jar
    4. services.odex

    files you dragged from zip package and pasted in your internal storage to the folder /system/framework and change the permission to like this rw-r--r-- permissions
    for all the four file(now you restored all the system actual files)
    now update it using OTA or by ADB SIDELOAD it wont give you any error
    i did this and i updated sucessfully

    Root again using V4 from this LINK
    And TADAAAA you've Rooted your latest KitKat Firmware.

    According to Xmod main site:
    "Xmodgames does not support Bluestacks(or other Android emulators)/ASUS zenfone 5(or other intel-based processors)/ART mode , X86 at the present.We are working on that now.Please check."

    How to up or down volume for all Zenfone
    How to up or down volume for Headfone,Speaker,Voip,..and all
    Need root
    Need Notepad++
    Open file in system/etc/parameter-framework/Settings/Audio/AudioConfigurableDomains.xml
    The needed files AudioConfigurableDomains.xml
    In Notepad++ search "analog" and once you get into the sound settings.
    Max volume for all your devices 39
    Change parameter for example >31 31< to >33 33< and above
    You may
    InCall.IHF
    InCall.Headset
    InCall.Earpiece and other
    The options you want:
    <ConfigurableElement Path="/Audio/REALTEK/SOUND_CARD/OUTPUT/SPEAKER/ANALOG/VOLUME">

    Save the changes and move to the phone, give rights rw-r-r
