JELLY BEAN DEV THREAD

wiy4M.jpg

UPDATE 14/10: Doomsday94 released a new version of Jelly Bean and is built from Cyanogenmod sources! Thread link here: here

UPDATE 11/9: First of all, sorry folks for the late updates but it was kinda busy at my work. Thankfully I have some time to keep this thread up to date. If anyone wants help/keep this updated, just send me a PM :).

Doomsday94 made a working and booting Jelly Bean build. There alot of things working! Check it out here. Or you can check out the working functions in the schedule below by VisualTech48.

UPDATE 17/7: vpupkin made a first try and JB is booting and there's some working stuff.

UPDATE: vpupkin already tried to build Jelly Bean for our device but not any progress. Reason: lots of bugs in the android source tree. Post is here: http://xdaforums.com/showpost.php?p=28593563&postcount=1302

I created this thread because the Jelly Bean source code has just been released a few days ago, so the developers can now create JB roms from source.
Since nobody has tried to get JB on our device (except for vpupkin, post is here: http://xdaforums.com/showpost.php?p=28593563&postcount=1302) that's why this thread. Vpupkin asked for a sort of "chatroom" for sharing work between developers, if you want you can do it here! Or by using the IRC channel on the bottom of the post.

Trying to keep this thread updated with all the Jelly Bean related news for our device (i9001 aka AriesVE). And of course we all want JB for our device!

I'm not a experienced dev myself but I often test ROMs for a friend who develops for the Galaxy S Plus. I can help testing JB if you want (PM me).

Real awesome stuff vpupkin. If I'm not wrong,I think we are the fourth device to get jelly bean built from source.
This should be on the portal.

of course it's laggy, what I meant was for the very first build and in comparison to cm9 :p animation is a bit laggy but apps starting faster in my opinion.
btw play store tells me a lot of apps ain't compatible with my device, e.g. facebook installs an very old version if I had something beyond android 2.2

Is storage working? (want to know it for my excel template so I can update it)
Can't test it myself because I need to make calls tonight.

I think I'll just leave CM10 for a while, because there is no point to make a CM10 before you get major-bug-free CM9. There not much difference between these two android versions, (it would be relatively-easy port all the work) so I think I'll just try to help arco, oisis and other guys with their work, and when it's done it would be time for JellyBean.

we need a working camera , and then functional custom kernels and our ics is near perfect ( arco's is stock cm9 , vitalityy has no wifi , oisis no oc , crybert no oc )- also we don't have 3.x kernels .

    Ok, first try:
    Working: wi-fi, gps, video-acceleration.
Non-working: audio. camera, gsm, maybe a lot of other apps ;-)

During this compilation I tried just to get bootable CM10, not bugless, so a lot of bugfixes from CM9 are not included.

alright guys, this is the fixed version. it contains the audio fix.

    https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B-NPErilnJ2VMUx6RllUVmE1Z0k/edit

and about new thread. i would have opened one. but i will be leaving xda within a few days, because of my class 12 exams . so then there would be no updates. it will be much better if someone more competent and has more free time should open it.

and one request to all the guys here, take my thanks meter past the 900 mark guys. i just love the way you guys support me. cheers.

AND AT LAST ALL MY CREDITS,LOVE,RESPECT AND BEST WISHES TO ARCO,IVENDOR,OISIS,TEXTEN AND CRYBERT. ALL ARE FANTASTIC DEVELOPERS

    hey guys.

first thing first. need to sort something out:

    to crybert:

sorry for however way i reacted. it might have been due to stress of exams or my lack of sleep. but at that time i seriously felt like you were nagging. i hope you didn't take it into any sort of offence. i want to forget the past and start afresh. what about you?

    to texten:

why did you say i don't credit others and want all the fame for myself ? whereas whenever i got the oppertunity i expressed my love and respect for all the hard work every developer has put into this mobile. the way i see it,i only made one mistake. not uploading the setup files with my first build. trust me,i didn't know it was required. i don't spend my time googling the apache license. (however i should have at least once) . but you could have easily sent me a pm telling me it was required rather than calling me a "one-man-show" , "someone who doesn't credit others works" , etc.

to the others who criticized me:

i don't even know who you guys are. you did not do anything productive in the development forum, but when it came to bashing someone all you stood up. fantastic. thanks for creating heaps of spam.

to all my fellow friends and areisve users:

i sincerely apologize for any wrong i have done, that made you think i'm the bad guy. trust me, i'm not. github has been a pain in my a** . it always throws back some errors when i try to upload my setup files (device and vendor files) . so,i have decided to upload them as zipped in some other uploading site like mediafire or google drive. since, arco and ivendor are working heavily on jb (which i suspected them of doing :p ) . i think we will get a stable beta of jb to begin with. so there is no point for me to work on stock cm10 anymore. rather i will use the cm code,to do something productive of my own. maybe a custom rom based on cm10 source code. directly building it from sources. which i will call doomnexus or doombean. haven't fixed the name yet. maybe you guys can help me finalize it. :)

and finally, thanks for supporting me. :)

here is the promised new build.

    rom:

    gapps:

http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20120726-signed.zip (if you have the this version, don't download)

    what's got fixed:

    wifi
60 % project butter. (its almost as smooth as cm9)

    what's added:

    latest cm10 changes
added stock jellybean launcher. (it is much more smoother than trebuchet)

i know audio is very important to fix. but i also have a private life and i do this in my free time. so please bear with me,i will try to fix audio soon.

    enjoy guys.
