This is just an observation, I'm not trying to imply any rudeness towards you, but you've been a member for almost 8 years, and in that time you have not learned the differences?

Stability and smoothness, battery and idle, etc., can all be had just as good on any rom, no different than any other, because Android is Android, what one can do they can all do, and that also means the roms from a manufacturer, just like OxygenOS.

People ask the same things about Linux, when new to the world of Linux, which is better, and it's the same, Linux is Linux, what one can do they can all do.

One thing that has not been mentioned here, is the firmware for hardware support from a manufacturer, this code is kept typically proprietary from all the major manufacturers which becomes the biggest hurdle of trying to support this hardware on custom roms.

Some of the developers have created good work arounds, hacks, incorporated software/firmware from other projects like camera replacements, etc., some times better, sometimes worse, it all gets down to likes dislikes, unless something is really bad. Again, unless there's a problem, it pretty much gets down to personal preferences is all.

We all don't drive the same cars, wear the same clothes, like the same foods, right? Well, it can be pretty much said the same for Technology, Android and ROMs.

Sure there are times when something can really be crappy, but in todays world of technology a lot is standardized on many levels from hardware to software, etc.

Take OxygenOS, strip it down, tweak and customize it, put in a new kernel and it's just as stable/fast smooth with battery life also like any other. The only thing it lacks are features. Now if a manufacturer has really messed up their firmware with bugs, and a 3rd party ROM has fixed this, or offers something better, then this can be the advantage here, it all depends, because software, no matter who's making/hacking it has bugs.

Features are typically the only major differences between ROMS.

So better is subjective to your needs, and you have to play and learn to figure out which you like.

So which is better to you, a Mazada or Toyota, chocolate or carob? You see my point? Point is, unless someone is really messing it up, then there is no better, only differences. And with some skills, not even developer level, you can make any of them just as good as the other...

If you're implying that someone isn't going to customize a ROM from a manufacturer, just simply install one or the other and be on their way, these could be true.


So the question really, is someone just looking for something to be on their way, or are they here to learn? If someone is here to just get something different and be on their way, ok, but if someone wants to learn, then no...




P.S. This is not a rant, whine, *****, cry or troll with any attitude, I'm just simply making a reply is all, trying to point out some things and help clear the air on this subject.
