When I work outside in -30 C (-22 F) and colder and everyday during break time when I actually use my phone, it reboots instantly as soon as I try doing anything. When it turns back on it has around -20% battery. If I let it warm back up it will raise 3-8%.

Sorry for off-topicness.

Can anyone suggest the best settings for advanced Wi-Fi settings? I changed my Wi-Fi frequency band from auto to 2.4ghz and unchecked network notification seems to improve my battery. What about 'Scanning Always Available' would it be wise to uncheck this?

Does that happen with stock Kernel too?

Honestly, as soon my phone was out of the box I rooted it and installed your kernel. So I have no idea. Next time I work I will test it out with PA since it's my secondary rom it doesn't seem to use your kernel.

Although, with my galaxy nexus the cold helped deplete my battery faster. I never had any reboots on it because of the cold. That was always with your kernel of course.

Anyone having problems with per-app modes? I'm on r25 and FKU is fully updated. Sometimes it takes a minute or two before the per-app settings take effect after opening the app and sometimes they don't change at all.

Yes please test with stock, that'll help to know if its some derp of my code or not.

Nop, I tested it quite heavily and it works fine and its applied in a maximum of 5 secs after the app is open.

FKU and GPU freq

Can anyone confirm that GPU freq cannot be changed ? (From FKU app, don't know any other app to do so)Ran gpu benchmarks and a game with fps counter and definitely no changes in scores/FPS.(Ex in images below. First with GPU at 450Mhz ans second "at 200MHz".)Also, is there any app which gives the GPU clock in real time ? Doesn't seem easy with Android

I just tested it, with 200MHz Beach Buggy is unplayable, lags everywhere. As soon as I change to 450MHz (values changed with FKU) the game is playable again. Current GPU clock is exported here: /sys/class/kgsl/kgsl-3d0/gpuclk

cool tools will give you a real time of CPU. I am also looking for an app that will display real time of GPU. have yet to find one, if there is even such a tool yet

I can code an app to read this device's GPU clock in couple minutes, problem is, where to show the GPU clock? Floating window or what? If its Floating Window I need to research a little bit I don't know how to use it, but should be easy enough.

Qualcomm's Trepn Profiler can show the load and the frequency of the CPU and GPU. Google it.

I really do not understand all that fuss about xposed, its completely beyond me. No wonder I never have issues.

Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

Xposed is incredibly useful. The people having issues with it are victims of their own stupidity. Just how people blame you for their poor battery, people blame xposed. When 99% of the time it's either a rogue app or a poorly coded module.

Thanks Franco, very happy with battery life on r25. Not bad for 5+hrs SOT, 98% of the time on Wi-Fi running stock KitKat, nova launcher, power toggles, bionic/dalvik mod. That's it! Thanks for all your time and effort in developing an awesome kernel. Benchmark score on Antutu with combination of bionic/dalvik mod is awesome, compared to ART or standard dalvik, Cheers!

    Hi all.

    Compatibility:
It should work on any rom by following this logic:
Builds (starting with r65) are Android 5.0 Lollipop only.
Builds (starting with r72) are Android 5.1 Lollipop only.
Builds (starting with r76) are Android 6.0 Marshmallow only.
Builds (starting with r97) are also compatible with Android 7.0 Nougat and Android 7.1 Nougat .
Builds (starting with r114) are also compatible with Android 8.1.0 Oreo.

This does not work with "CAF" roms.

    Download:
    https://francokernel.app

    Installation:
Flash the zip in your recovery
    or
Auto-flash from Franco Kernel Updater app

    Features:
    1 - Legendary battery life
    2 - Flash & forget
3 - Typical interfaces like display adjustments, sound control, vibration control, and all that boring stuff
4 - Idle power consumption reduced to the absolute minimum (if you have wakelocks from 3rd party apps you're obviously on your own)
    5 - Support for FKUpdater's Performance Profiles
6 - Magical support, I'm here every day, checking posts almost hourly, ready to help anytime (well, unless you fail to read the OP, which contains most info you need)
7 - Seemless integration with my app FKUpdater
8 - No crap placebo patches, or "magical" optimizations
9 - Probably more, check my github for all the details - the code speaks for itself

Kernel Manager for Franco Kernel demo

    Disclaimer to moderators:
Slight OT is fine, but when users decide to act stupid they should be dealt with with the appropriate means - its really annoying for me when OT turns crazy. Please put the warning/ban hammer anytime any of you think there's lack of respect and/or too much unwanted OT crap - but if it doesn't meet this criteria let the OT posts alone. Thank you.

    Cheers!

r33 is pushed! Thanks for all the tests during this last 5-6 weeks. Before you ask yes this build is newer than the last r33-test. Most of you that followed the changes know basically what changed, so this is a generic changelog:

    * FK does not work with CM or derivates anymore so don't flash if you're in one of those roms. Also make sure you're not undervolting too much, this new build might be a little extra nervous regarding low voltages
    * This is a huge release with more than 1 month of consecutive testing. It contains probably more than 250 new commits which include a lot of patches from Codeaurora with fixes, performance improvements and battery improvements. Subsystems like cpufreq, audio, video, display, thermal, power management etc have been improved. For a complete list of changes please visit my github repository
    * My hotplug driver has been improved as in having a complete new set of tunables for advanced users. Visit my repository for the documentation of each tunable

    Enjoy!

I'd like to wish you all a Merry Christmas, lots of food, kisses, hugs, and quality time.

From my part thanks a lot for the great 2 months since the N5 was released, that, for me, is a great gift, thank you all.

    Pushed r37 with exciting features:

    * Misc patches with small fixes
    * Remove duplicated GPU frequencies
    * Add minimum backlight tunable /sys/module/parameters/lm3630_bl/min_brightness
    * Add RGB display calibration /sys/devices/platform/kcal_ctrl.0/kcal
    * Merged some memory routine optimizations from Motorola

    Cool stuff :)
