You have to use, or SHOULD use Camera ICS from the Market, errr Play Store

---------- Post added at 06:32 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:28 AM ----------

I don't mean to pick on you, but there are hundreds of posts here proclaiming the greatness of the ROM. There are also posts on the last few pages that hint to a possible new GB version coming eventually. There are ALSO posts with links in here to the latest GB versions on mirrored sites.

No offense, but again, people who don't take a few minutes to search and read are really annoying to those of us who do and those of use that spend hours on here posting ways to fix things and make phones run smoother.

TBH, that guide that realtobago posted above only contains things that are already posted all over this site that I learned by reading and searching. There's not one thing in there that I invented or discovered on my own by doing Mad Scientist style testing on my phone

But If people had not searched or read, how would this thread have been found? How would this rom have been discovered? Are you saying that it's not fair that you put so much work into the research and others deserve answers only based how much time and effort they apply? I believe the purpose of these forums are to discuss issues and share solutions. Please don't knock down the less knowledgeable person for asking a question. If you don't ask, the answer is always no. Give some credit to the fact that we are here because we searched. Why should someone go past the orange tree to other trees looking for oranges.
Don't get me wrong, I understand your frustration and you obviously know a lot. And it is the reason why we are here looking for answers from the ones who know (such as yourself).
I hope this doesn't offend anyone, just looking out....

I agree with you.

I personally always do my own searches before asking a question just in case it's a FAQ. However, sometimes I don't find the answer I was looking for, even if it is there.

With that said, I believe some people are just frustrated that they are seeing the same questions being asked over and over again and they are just releasing their frustration in the forum. No biggie :)

This response will get lost in the shuffle, but it always helps to read the original post AND the last 5 pages of a thread before you ask your question. Chances are if it's a common problem, someone has already asked about it. Ad nauseum.

Searching for specific answers is good but reading everything is better! You will get answers to questions you didn't know you had. ;-)

Well, tbh, there's not a whole lot of searching involved to find this thread. I mean, it's always on the front page and nearly at the top of the Dev section, where you'd be coming to look for ROMS anyhow.

The point isn't even that he didn't search, but more that he comes on talking about how his phone is laggy and that the Evo 4G can't run ICS (paraphrasing) and all this thread has been filled with for weeks is how amazing and stable this ROM is.

I agree in a sense but if he went back a few pages all the info he needed was there, reading the OP and the most recent page doesn't mean you've searched and can't find an answer.. I monitor this thread a lot and the same questions come up repeatedly (ie, does this have hwa, any way to fix choppy video, what's up with GB, ect) and all these questions can be answered by looking a few pages back in most cases.. So yeah answering the same question over and over kinda sucks

I understand your point. Again no offense, I appreciate your knowledge and expertise. And I agree with you, there has to be some sort of responsibility, nothing is drive-through-break-throughs. I totally get that the same stupid question is being asked, and i too get annoyed. Imo people just need to be educated instead of getting annoyed by their laziness.

With that said, THANK YOU! for helping people find solutions to their ICS issues. You've helped me with flashing the correct way (yes because I read :) ). I also agree that this rom IS stable as a rock and i've never experienced any issues. I'm just a user and have been a follower of swiper's roms since MIUI.US dropped the evo back in Dec.'11. So can we all just get along and support the best Ics rom that exists! :D

And to those who have questions, please take the time to go back at least 10-15 pages before asking. You might find the answer faster than waiting for a reply. Just my .02.

HipKat your post is useful, thanks. But not everyone has the time to read through all of the posts.

I am trying to work things out with MIUI.US.
Hopefully we can get this all going again soon.
Swiper pulled all roms per MIUI.US request.
Seems part of their translation apks are in these roms. They asked for them to be pulled because credits were not posted.
To be honest I am not sure many if any post miui credits in their roms but we want to do it right.

We will do what we can to work with them to get this back up.
Please be patient as we want to get things worked out and also do it right.

    Thank you.

I have tried talking with MIUI.US and still no reply from them.
Stated the work done here would direct credit to them and we would do what needed to be done.
They refuse to answer and I sent pm the day this got shut down.

They have a right to get credit yes, but ignoring the fact this was the best port and made users happy is disrespectful.
We have offered to make things right and they do not reply.

I have much respect for the work they do but banning Swiper without a chance to make it right is absurd.

They think what was done here was wrong but they did not give a chance to make it right.

Official porter or not, if credits are given that should be enough as that is all they complained about.
Now that we offered to make it right there is no response.

    As I posted on MIUI.us:

Swiper didn't take initiative for any position. He made his own ports and released them on his own site completely independently of MIUI.us as if MIUI.us didn't exist, and as far as I know, he made no effort to contact MIUI.us about becoming the site's official porter. The only reason his ports even made it to MIUI.us is because Raadius was kind enough to post them for Swiper. Basically, this is Swiper's own doing. He wanted to be completely independent, which is perfectly fine, but he used MIUI.us' work to do so with no indication whatsoever of that fact. Whether it was intentional or not is beside the point.

Endless, you know, I have the utmost in respect for you, but let's revisit a little history.

Towards the end of the year, MIUI.us said they were going to focus on dev'ing ICS versions of MIUI. And they did; for every phone EXCEPT the Evo.
At that point, the Evo was basically dropped, except for 2 very half-assed attempts that came out in December and were broken. Not one person from MIUI.us offered us a word about anything. Nor was there any attempt to fix the releases that were basically unusable.

Swiper was the one that came in, looked at the ROM and offered to rework what was broken and forgotten, and came up with amazingly stable versions that put MIUI back on the Evo.

Every time I hear, or read about someone crying because they didn't get as much credit as their lame ego's dictate that they should have, I want to wring their necks. I'm sick of whiny babies that are more concerned with their own adoration than they are progressing the work on these devices.
That little tantrum has shut down more threads and chased away more devs who ONLY do this so that retards like me can satiate our need to constantly tweak and mod our devices.

Swiper sure didn't do it for a paycheck.

Bottom line is, if there was never a Swiper, or someone like him, MIUI on the Evo would STILL be dead. Now Sin is a great choice, but HE was working on and doing a great job with MIUI ICS, not GB. I will love when MIUI ICS is stable enough to be a completely functional ROM, but in the meantime, I want GB to be constantly updated and improved and THAT is what Swiper did, without asking anyone for anything in return. And what he got back was the shaft.
