I'm not a big fan of the green of the newer hangouts versions, so this is a little project I've been working on the last little while to make hangouts fit more in with different themes I do for the M8. These hangouts can essentially be flashed on any device, so I've decided to share here.

Please Note: This mod was originally done for the HTC M8, and has only been tested on it. It should be fine on most devices, but there may be issues depending on your screen resolution and other factors. If it won't work for you, please provide me with detailed info, and an error log.

ViperLight Hangouts:

Colour options: Blue, Faded Blue, Green, HTC Green, Orange, Red, Pink, Purple and Grey.

Flash in recovery, and choose your colour via aroma. Please ensure you have hangouts up and running on your device before flashing this mod. If you have a problem, such as an FC, please provide me with a logcat and I'll try to figure it.

Guide for custom hangouts colour:
Please note, this only really works for dark, as light has custom images

1. Download your desired Hangouts zip.

2. Download HxD hex editor from here

3, Using 7zip or similar, navigate to additions\theme\extended\ics_blue\ in the zip, and extract resources.arsc

4. Open resources.arsc using HxD and then using replace (Ctrl + r), replace E5 B5 33 with the hex of your chosen colour.
Please note: if your chosen hex value is 123456, then when hex editing, you need to change the order to 56 34 12 (this isn't just backwards!)

You also need to make sure that HxD is set to hex values for datatype. It should replace something like 4 values.

5. Put the resources.arsc back into the ics_blue folder in the zip.

6. Flash the theme and select ICS Blue colour option in aroma.

I installed on Rooted Stock 4.4.4 and it crashes as soon as a I try to open, I installed Dark - red.

Log attached, thanks for checking.

hmmm dunno. did you have hangouts running fine before flashing? there's a few mentions of xposed in the log, which modules do you have enabled?

I did had it installed and running fine, I only have Sense 6 toolbox, with everything transparent.
I disabled it and installed the zip again but the issue remains.

How can I uninstall this theme? or re-install hangouts? I try installing an apk but no go.

Just delete hangouts.apk from /system/app

I cant seem to get the dark themes to install via Safestrap. When i try, safestrap freezes and i have to do a battery pull.

Yes it's a recovery based on TWRP.
