Hello @ McFy, thank you for creating this ROM (which is wonderful), but I noticed some things that brought me back to the stock rom: the most important is the battery (the serial ROM is better than this ROM) and the second ( but not less important) is the random restart (I do not know why in the lock screen, the smartphone crashes and restarts).
I know that creating a version of a ROM (which is only for arm64) for a smartphone like the A320FL (which is just an arm) is very difficult, but I want to say "Keep up with your incredible work"

Hi all

Running lineage-15.1-20181205-UNOFFICIAL-a3y17lte.zip on A320FL I'm in general very happy about it (many thanks to the Maintainer @McFy !!) but also ran into some annoying bugs:
  • Various apps crashing, for example Tasks, K9 Mail, standard SMS. Alwhays when opening a new item. I don't know if it's caused by the system or the apps, but I believe so, as they were working on other systems.
  • Frequent boot loops. Rebooting to Fastboot-/Recovery-Mode and then to system again helps, but sometimes it needs 2 or 3 tries.
  • Last time i ran into that boot loop and managed to get out, all personal (like pictures) and app data (settings, accounts; launcher included; not the apps themselves) was deleted from internal storage (not from sd card).
  • untill now two crashes after booting but before unlocking the screen the first time.

Edit: My workaround is not to turn the phone off ^^ So everything is fine now. Also since the bad crash with deleted app data nothing crashed so far.

[...]you getting fired because the alarm app failed.[...]

It's not as funny as the nuclear war because the alarm clock does fail to play any sound on my phone since I updated to the last (dec 25) build (the optional vibration works though). But I never had a job to begin with, so rest easy, I won't sue you for my missing paycheck. :p
Edit: Ops, wrong thread. It's about LOS 16.0

Been using that rom for 2 months without much problems now. I even paypaled some money to McFy to say thank you... ;)

I noticed a small problem, however. When using a wired headset, the mic input is very low. I tried two headsets, which work on another phone.

I noticed a problem with my exchange account... I often loose my calendar settings (color).

Apparently, the A3 (december build + OpenGapps) usually asks for security issues, and then, all calendars become empty (so as E-mail), and everything is then sync the following time... but I lose the agenda settings (color).

Sounds not to have fun. I recommend to start again from scratch, maybe even with original firmware. Check there you don't have hardware issue. My device (and many others) work fine so far. The only issue I have seen is that sometimes BT can not be switched on, and BT seems to consume a lot of power (not sure it just say it need a lot or whether it really needs a lot).
Beside that it is just great. In rare cases that something is going wrong, reboot helps.

Hi, thanks for your reply :)

My workaround is not to turn the phone off ^^ So everything is fine now. Also since the bad crash with deleted app data nothing crashed so far.
Maybe i'll start again from scratch with original firmware when changing to 16.0.

I'm having problems with Google Play Services. Yesterday I flashed Lineage 15.1 and Gapps for 8.1 and everything was working great until today when all Google apps started to crash. Sometimes they would report that Google Play Services crashed and sometimes they would simply freeze. While looking for fix, I noticed there's 16.0 build available so I wiped system+dalvik+cache+data and flashed 16.0 with Gapps 9.0. Phone boots fine and I can start setting it up but when I try to import data from cloud, screen goes black. I don't know what it is but I assume it's Google Play Services again. Is there anything I can try to troubleshoot that?

I have just tested Lineage OS 16.0 and... I really prefer LOS 15.1
- Android Pie does not allow to turn off localisation use battery saving mode -> not so good for battery life
- Luminosity behaves "strangely" in automatic mode with LOS 16.0. For instance, sometimes it is very high even if ambiant has not changed a lot after a call. Automatic mode in 15.1 seems to have a better behavior
- Apps icons are nicer in LOS 15.1 (no white circle around them)
- In the status bar, few icons are missing in LOS 16.0 (BT when on for instance)
- In LOS 15.1, when you lower the volume, then you can get the silent mode and if you reduce even more the volume, you get the "not disturb mode", and this capacity seems to be absent in LOS 16.0

Both LOS 15.1 and 16.0 have the same issue with Exchange accounts : sometimes, all the account (and so the calendars and E mails) seems to be completly downloaded (with a security checking), and then,we lose few settings (color of each calendar for instance).

Can you elaborate?
Location can be disabled in the settings Security & location > location (this might not be an accurate translation, but close enough), does that not disable GPS and other means for getting the location?

I'm asking about android pie in general, not specifically for Samsung A3

Sorry, I was wrong, it is the battery saving mode that is not available anymore (SRC : https://www.androidpolice.com, settings are the same in Android Pie). So you can not turn off GPS and get a rough localisation (what is enought for a lot of applications)

I read that the mic volume was boosted in Lineage 16.0. Is there any chance to have the same quick fix in that rom? The mic volume is also too low when using a connected or bluetooth handset.

Just a quick How to install Galaxy wear on LOS 15.1.

The problem : Galaxy wear will install but wont run complaining about being run on a non-stock rom.

The solution : fool the app by editing /system/build.prop
replace samsung by htc on 2 lines : ro.product.brand and ro.product..manufacturer.brand.

The tricky part : being root wasnt sufficient and any editing i made via a file manager wasnt saved into the filesystem. i had to manually go into TWRP, select terminal and edit the file through the vi unix command (have to know how to do that lucky i do it for a living) .

After that, it was smooth as butter, the app is now working and the watch too.
One last trick : susbtitute the LOS' sms default app by another so you can get the sms notifications.

Et voilà, have a nice day guys !

Just use BuildProb Editor form Google Play. I think it is more easy to use.
But my biggest problem is making phone calls over the watch.

Hi, when I follow the Gapps link in the 1st post the Platform there is set to ARM64. Since Exynos 7870 Octa in my SM-A320FL is ARM architecture with 64-bit word (https://en.wikichip.org/wiki/samsung/exynos/7870) the automatic ARM64 selection looks right, however the Gapps won't install returning Error 64 "cannot be installed on this architecture - use ARM instead". Installing the ARM one succeeds indeed. Why is that? Should perhaps the automatic selection of ARM64 be amended accordingly, so that ARM is autoselected instead?

I think that even though the processor of the phone is 64 bit, the rom itself is 32 bit. And there is no selection of architecture embedded in the opengapps link, 64 bit was just selected by default for you. But I agree that it would be useful to state in the description of the rom if it's 32 or 64 bit.

I see: thank you. Just thought as all 3 switches (Platform/Android/Variant) seemed set right for SM-A320FL that the thread is about, the topic starter made those selected that way within the URL somehow and so ARM64 is valid. Worth noting though that I accessed that URL from my W10x64 laptop, so if it tried sensing it it should've chosen x86-64, hence no idea where that ARM64 comes from.

Does anyone else besides me who uses this ROM + Gapps on SM-A320FL have two exactly same looking Phone app icons in the app drawer right next to each other? If so is that normal (and why) and is there a way to get rid of one of them? I first flashed the ROM alone (using Install zip in TWRP 3.3.1.0 as Install Image wasn't showing the zip with the ROM) and then once it booted into the ROM I rebooted into TWRP back and flashed Gapps: could that have messed things up? Thanks in advance!

    Lineage OS 15.1

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 8.1 (oreo), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

We appreciate McFy's work but I think it's not hard to only tell us how things are going. I think it's not a problem at all... Thanks.
I fixed nfc, gps seem to be fixed, I don't know yet when I will release but I hope it to be soon, Too I expect to share a bug less rom. I need just to adjust things and test it to see if all work in daily life !
