Step By Step Guide on how to Modify your WP7 Themes and Colors

This is a step by step to how can you Modify the WP7 accent and background colors for WP7

first you need to unlock your phone using ChevronWP7

and Install the registry editor

to modify the accent colors use the Advanced Configuration

Use the registry editor to modify the background of the dark theme go to those Keys and change the value to your favorite color in HEX

[HKLM\ControlPanel\themes\1\Basethemecolor]
[HKLM\ControlPanel\themes\1\TextHighContrast]
[HKLM\ControlPanel\themes\1\TextBackGround]
[HKLM\ControlPanel\themes\1\pageBackGroundColor]
[HKLM\ControlPanel\themes\1\SysTrayBackGroundColor]

You might also need to change the font Color
[HKLM\ControlPanel\themes\1\TextNeutralColor]
[HKLM\ControlPanel\themes\1\ListPickerBackgroundPressed]
[HKLM\ControlPanel\themes\1\ContrastColor]

to modify the light theme back ground color:

[HKLM\ControlPanel\themes\0\Basethemecolor]
[HKLM\ControlPanel\themes\0\TextHighContrast]
[HKLM\ControlPanel\themes\0\TextBackGround]
[HKLM\ControlPanel\themes\0\pageBackGroundColor]
[HKLM\ControlPanel\themes\0\SysTrayBackGroundColor]

You might also need to change the font Color
[HKLM\ControlPanel\themes\0\TextNeutralColor]
[HKLM\ControlPanel\themes\0\ListPickerBackgroundPressed]
[HKLM\ControlPanel\themes\0\ContrastColor]

to get the colors in Hex you can find some good color combination here

I played around a bit yesterday and nearly f*cked up one of the themes

I changed only pageBackGroundColor to some greenish ones as i wanted on my homescreen, but everytime the theme got f*cked pretty bad. After first change _everything_ was black except systray/status bar and i had to change design blind, after 2nd change everything was white with some pretty bad distortions and again had to change blind.

So can anyone tell me, which exactly to change or do i need to change all of them to my wanted color? :/

Have you tried deploying the original themes via the registry deployer?

no comment on that one ^^

yeah, i just changed the edited registry values back to normal manually.
so which entry is the one to edit the homescreen background?
it should be just pageBackGroundColor and sysTrayBackGroundColor right?

oh man, i forgot "FF" in front of hex-color-code

now it works

so it has to look like #FFhexcodeofyourcolor -.-

But...Has anyone devised a way to not only change the background but even apply a wallpaper as background? Now THAT would be really nice

Blacktiles are worthless... it just shows an all black tiles on a black screen. Blacktiles on white is meh.

I confirm changing PageBackGroundColor changes the home screen and apps background very cool, also systry color works as well. Just reset ur device after the changer for it to take place. And it looks like the first variable has not effect .

But cannot change the background home screen ( it's just black or light )
Can you show me for a details to change the background homescreen as a custom picture ?

Use registry edit and goto:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel\Themes\1]
"PageBackgroundColor"="#FF......"
"SysTrayBackgroundColor"="#FF......"

change these to what color you want, and make sure to leave the first 2 FF then your color code. Here is a link to some colors.

use the registry editor to change the black to another color

as for changing it to a picture it is still not possible
