Which kernel is to be used with this Gingerbread build? I wasn't able to locate a gb-labeled kernel on dzo's site?
DZO,
this is brilliant. I'm really enjoying my first play with a 2.x version of Android.
To the wider community,
I'm a total n00b at this, and I'm seeing people asking lots of questions and seeing lots of answers. The problem for me is that I don't understand the questions, let alone the answers .
So, here are my questions. I'm hoping that someone can give me some nice step by step answers.
Some background:
- I've got a Tytn II with winmo 6.1 on it.
- I've got a 2gb SD card.
- I downloaded haretinstall.zip and system-gingerbread-26-12-10_00.tgz.
- I renamed system-gingerbread-26-12-10_00.tgz to androidinstall.tgz
- I expanded and copyed haretinstall to my SD card via USB, and then renamed one of the text files, copied androidinstall.tgz into andboot etc etc etc, and pretty soon had android working.
Now, here are the questions.
- Android runs like a dog. I'm guessing a 400mhz CPU is part of the problem. Is there a way to improve performance?
- Bluetooth and wifi don't work. Is there a way to make these spring into life?
- When I open an email in gmail, it begins to display the email, then brings up a white screen, and drops me back to the inbox. Is there a solution to this?
- The device no longer mounts to windows, so I can't copy files to/from it any more. Is there a solution to this.
I'm sure all the answers are out there, but I have searched and not found anything step by step enough for me.
If I can resolve these, I'll be then working out how to get GB loaded permanently onto my phone instead of running it via haret.
Cheers
Jo
For speed try using rogue tools to overclock most vogue and the like can do up to 500Mhz
The gmail issue is a gb issue across the board on mdpi devices to get around it use either the reg email app or k9 from the market
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
My Vogue seems to be unhappy with any kernel and the latest build of GB--during load it seems to get caught at "init: untracked pid xyz xited".
Perhaps do I need to rename the "AndroidSystemBuild.tgz" to .tar before placing on my SD card for flashing?
Yes name it androidinstall and do the volume up installer menu to install

Yep, I'm doing that--but then when I reboot and Android is trying to load, that's when I hit the errors I cited.
I take it I'm alone in that area, then?

Using system-gingerbread-26-12-10_00.tgz on Polaris POLA200 panel type 1.
Work: Back Camera (ONLY PHOTO MODE, NO VIDEO RECORDING), WiFi, Marketplace, GMail, Account Sync
Don't Work: Bluetooth, Front Camera, Video Call
Will be nice to solve that things, and add some more speed, sometimes it is a little bit slowly... Some apps need to be forced to close, maybe a new keymap for polaris will be nice, because when press GPS key, the app is closed and the OS go back to Home Screen, it have to go back only one level to the previous menu/submenu.

If you don't mind, can you please share it here?the 11/29 .32 kernel and the 12/29 gb build along w/ the system/apps folder from the 12/30 build works pretty well. I also pieced together the needed files for synching of google services. If anyone wants my one-off version of the ROM, I'd be happy to share.
Hi, you build works great. The only problem I have is that I can't synchronize anything besides Gmail. How can add Calendar and Contacts to the synchronization options? Thanks in advance.I also had the issue with the untracked pid with the 30/12 build.
By merging in libhardware_legacy.so from the 29/12 build, but using the rest from the 30th build, I got it to boot.
I have also merged in /etc/passwd, CRKO commander, Connectbot and the .32 modules (so you don't need to apply that update) along with Gmail and Market from 30/12.
