tap on the warning triangle comes up in top bar. and give permission so that google maps can use your gmail to log in

i have don all
1. In Titanium Backup, select Maps and make a backup.
2. Select Maps and wipe data, then uninstall.
3. Select Street View and wipe data, then uninstall
4. Install Google Maps 5.2.1 ownhere-resign.apk
5. Go to market, and reinstall street view.
BUT the maps try to install ,and i get the msg
is not installed,i try to recover the back up but cannot recover either so i end with no maps.
any idea.

Thanks mate! Your instruction was much more clearer!Don't install the apk, instead use root explorer or terminal emulator to copy the maps5.2.1-ownhere.apk to system/app then reboot

Have tried these steps but I couldn't see Maps application anywhere. Here are the steps I tried
1. Titanium Backup of Map App
2. Wiped Data and Uninstalled Maps
3. Titanium Backup of Street View App
4. Wiped Data and Uninstalled Street View
5. Copied maps5.2.1-ownhere.apk to /system/app using rootexplorer (Tried both versions )
6. Rebooted
Am I missing something here?
Just for clarification. I live in germany and I have the official Google Maps application from the market. I actually can navigate with this version just like on those screenshots.
If I live in germany, is this edition of google maps of no interest to me? Or does it provide other features for foreign countries outside of the US? Just wanna make sure before I install this ...

Would anyone like to share how the maps.apk is changed to allow navigation to work in all countries. I'm sure this forum would benefit from this info so that more ppl could help on getting the latest release out when google releases it.
