When I attempt to install this from cwm 3.2 I get the following error:

Code:
assert failed getprop("ro.product.device") == "aries" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "aries" || getprop("ro.product.board") == "aries" ||
       getprop("ro.product.device") == "mesmerize" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "mesmerize" || getprop("ro.product.board") == "mesmerize" ||
       getprop("ro.product.device") == "mesmerizemtd" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "mesmerizemtd" || getprop("ro.product.board") == "mesmerizemtd" ||
       getprop("ro.product.device") == "SCH-I500" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "SCH-I500" || getprop("ro.product.board") == "SCH-I500"

Upon the recommendation of lmartin92 I removed this text from the updater-script file, which results in me getting a (Status 4) failure instead.

EDIT: I forgot to say it before, thanks so much for the work you've put in jt. I really appreciate it, and I can't wait for it to be fully ready :D

Exact same error I am getting on showcase.

do you guys have your build.prop file altered to list your phone as something other than the mesmerize or showcase.
perfect example was the mods to make netflix work.
it or rather you had to change your build.prop to make it appear as if your phone was one that was auth. to use netflix for streaming.

did you do a complete wipe? data factory reset, dalvik, and what ever else?
do it again, atleast twice each. then make sure you downloaded the proper file.

might have to blow your phone back to stock, reroot, reinstall clockwork and then try and flash.

for those asking about lagfix - this rom completely reformats your partitions to use MTD vs. BML that samsung uses - so there is no need to worry about it before flashing, and once you're on the rom you won't be enabling/disabling it because your rom will already be formatted.

And for those asking about scores - **** scores - i'll tell you right now it's super fast, unlike any rom we've had yet.

I will say this - if you rely heavily on getting phone calls, don't flash this yet - using softlocker hasn't worked for me so i'm still missing some calls when in deep sleep. remember, this is an ALPHA people.

I get this error, and my phone thinks it's on verizon. I can't recall how it got that way, but obviously it's something I did. It wasn't netflix.

But I wondered if this error had something to do with the file in the OP being named "update?"

For those having issues getting CM7 flashed (you're getting an error code from CWM and installation is aborting) Follow the below!

Download this .zip here -> http://olvisfoundation.com/xdadump/bdemartino/ROMS/updater-script.zip

Open the ROM .zip that you downloaded from JT here in the OP - navigate to
/META-INf/com/google/android/
Delete the existing "updater-script" file
Drag the one out of the .zip you just downloaded and place in the ROM .zip. (I don't even extract the files, just use 7zip and you can browse the .zip without extracting.

After that, it should flash fine. Let me know.

I'm using softlocker however CPU Spy is still showing some time in deep sleep. I don't know if I have missed any calls (unlikely as I don't generally get many) but any ideas why it would still be going to deep sleep?

Quick bug report:
In call volume is still really quiet, idk if you could fix that or not but it has been an issue since the last cm7. I'm told that outgoing audio is also quiet.

DSPManager force closes every time audio things change, e.g. I plug in headphones or receive/end a call. I'm not sure if dspmanager came with your rom or if it has just held over from a previous rom but if you know a fix that would be great.

Apps that use the camera flash (cm7 torch, teslaled, etc.) don't seem to work at all. I've tried multiple flashlight apps and they don't activate the LED flash.

On the other hand, this rom is fantastic. Fastest my phone has ever been by far, and I haven't even installed anything to mess with CPU or voltages or anything whatsoever. It's so great to have a camera again. And to be able to actually use my phone while it is installing apps. Thanks again.

Quick question for anybody who might know: Can we use nemesis2all's OTB kernel with this or do we need to get a port first? It's been so long since I've done anything with kernels that I can't remember what is safe or not. I would really love to have some OC, voodoo sound, etc. on this.

I am currently using OTB with no problems. Read the OP for voltage setting info though as too much undervolting can cause problems per nemesis.

The LED flash isn't working yet, needs hacks to work and I believe jt will get around to it eventually

No dice. After replacing the previous updater-script file with this one, I get the following error:

Code:
E:Error in <location of the cm7 zip>
(Status 4)
Installation aborted.

that's a new one :(, the person in IRC that had the assert errors was able to use it just fine, so hopefully jt can advise.

damn....

I could not get this to install properly for the life of me. The very first time I flashed it, however, it worked fine, booted up and connected to network. I then rebooted into recovery to flash gapps and after that it again booted with the "touch the android to continue" screen, but no matter what I did, I could not get past that screen. I tried rebooting it a few times to no avail. I then odined back to stock ec10 and tried it all over again. That's when I started to get the assert errors and the status 4 error. I removed those 4 lines from the com/google/android/updater.script file and got it to start installing. Unfortunately it just hung up on the Galaxy S/Cyanogenmod 7 screen. After about 30 minutes I pulled the battery and tried it again. This time it went through the first part of the install process, but could not reboot into CWM 4 Recovery, it would just flash a few errors on the screen real fast then do it all over again... :mad: damn I'm giving up on it for now but I will try again some more later...:confused:

    Here is a test build/preview of the 2.6.35 MTD CM7 port for the Mesmerize and Showcase. It is built off the work of TeamHacksung, and is very different from earlier CM7 builds. At this point it is very functional, but still in very much of an ALPHA state.

    Working:
    Calls!!
    SMS
    3G data
    GPS!!
    Bluetooth!!
    WiFi
    Camera/Camcorder
    USB mass storage / sdcard
    Sensors!!
    MMS

    Not Working:
    bugs :p

    Known Issues:
    * occassionally the radio may completely die (usually after phone has been powered off for a while) - fix: (shouldn't have to say this): pull the battery.

    Included in the package is the base ROM and kernel. GAPPS must be flashed separately. Link below. You may also use nemesis2all's kernel here : http://xdaforums.com/show....php?t=1119169

    When flashed the first time, your filesystems will be converted to MTD (yaffs2/ext4). Do not try to flash any other ROMs via cwm at that point, and do not try to get into recovery via the 3 button method. Use adb reboot recovery or the reboot recovery option from the power menu. To revert, and switch to another ROM, flash a full Odin/Heimdall package.

    Since your filesystems are being fully converted, there is no need for Voodoo or any other lagfix. DO NOT TRY TO INSTALL ANY KIND OF LAGFIX ON THIS ROM!!! Voodoo sound capability is however included in the kernel.

    To install, boot into cwm recovery, wipe data, and flash the ROM. It will reboot and then do the actual install. If you are on a previous version, you can simply flash it over your current install. If you have problems, try wiping data first. The ROM will work whether you are on rfs or ext4.

    There's nothing carrier specific in the kernel. Use whichever you want, they're all the same as far as that goes.

    I have a much newer build for mesmerize available , will post a link shortly

    JT, I know ETA's are frowned upon but I was wondering if you'd be able to update the Mes rom? Or are you relying on our devs to update from Github?

    I have to reclean my tree, been focused on getting things merged with mainline cm. Will probably have some new builds up later this week.
