Hello all !!!

You tell me it's mostly for the French because only they who uses the azerty, and... you're right :p

Ok, remember that you must to be root !

And now, let's go !

firstly, download the file azerty_keymap.zip (below) and chose between these 2 methods.

the first : Using ADB (you have to download Android SDK before)

just plug your Xoom and push files with these command lines

adb remount
adb push Generic.kl /system/usr/keylayout/Generic.kl
adb push Generic.kcm /system/usr/keychars/Generic.kcm
adb reboot

the second method : Using Root Explorer (or anything else like it)

copy Generic.kl in the folder /system/usr/keylayout/ (mount r/w before)
then copy Generic.kcm in the folder /system/usr/keychars/
remount r/o
reboot

and NOW...!!!! Enjoy your azerty keyboard with.

I hope it will help you. :D

What is the brand of your keyboards ?

If your keyboard is know by the system, correct map is use, else, generic map is apply.
Give me brand/model of your keyboards, and I'll help.;)

Hy! I use an apple bluetooh keyboard for xoom. Im hungarian, and my keyboard too. But the xoom use as an us keyboard. I config a copy of Generic.kcm. Its fine. I connect my xoom to pc, push the file, reboot, but my keyboard is still work as US... :) I try to overwerite, the qwerty.kcm, qwerty2.kcm.. nothing. if i overwrite the virtual.kcm, the xoom will reboot if i type characters. :D
What can i do? :)

Xoom EU wifi+3G, tiamat rom.
thank u, and sry for my english! :)

hi
would it be possible to remap Mail button to open Gmail app instead of the standard email app ?

I looked into the .kl file, and there is the line
Code:
key 184 KEYBOARD_EMAIL

Do you know what I could write instead of this line to start gmail app ?

Thanks
nico

Hello thorin31

For ICS your patch could fix the keyboard in azerty ?
Can I do this with no probleme ?
Worse I make a backup ;)

Because my english is bad.

(( Salut thorin31
Pour ICS ton patch peut réparer le clavier en azerty ?
Puis je le faire sans soucis ?
au pire je ferais une sauvegarde ;) ))

Yes It's good on Touchpad with CyanomodGen 9 and Touchpad Keyboard

It works also on ICS. I have tested it. Take a look at this video.

Hi,

Using those files on a rooted nexus 10 with a bluetooth PS3 keyboard makes it undetected as a keyboard (trackpoint still effective) ... any clue ? Thanks.

Have you all tried with External Keyboard Helper app? It's paid app, but it works for me. I have Xoom, 3G, with noname keyboard from eBay and croatian layout. And it works just fine...

Yes, it can be a hassle sometimes, but it's worth those few dollars that keep me away from plwying with keyboard layout files...

It's just a suggestion... And, there is also demo on Play store, full functional (as far as I can remember).

Samsung'd with Galaxy S III

There is a free equivalent on the store (clavier physique AZERTY) but both apps share the same issue : instead of overriding/fixing the default Android input method (which adapts automatically to the presence of a physical keyboard or not), both provide an alternative method that works well when physical keyboard is used, but is notre smart enough to cancel itself and use default Android when using software keyboard...
