Can I rename it to update.zip, move it to my SD card root and safely update my unrooted S-On device?

Looks like I can't update my device using your file. It says 'Invalid operation' if I apply the update from the sd card.

As I said I have no idea how to apply. There are 2 Dev's looking at it. So wait and see what they do.

You need to rename the file to update.zip but I think it is not going to work anyway because you need root access or so. My phone says it is unable to open /cache/recovery/command or something like that.

frankly speaking there is nothing more that we have already on every 3.0 rom around..

That file name means that we now know how to download directly from HTC
