Help with updating kernel in Xperia X8 (E15a)

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to update my Xperia X8 with the kernel E15_nAa-06b_2.6.29.6-nAa-06b. This update is required for MiniCM7-2.1.5. I used Flashtool v0.5.3.0, but the update "aborts" halfway. I performed this while the phone is in "recovery mode" as instructed (holding the back button while plugging the USB).

I assume that the kernel is made for an E15i model instead of the one I have (E15a). Can someone verify if this is true? The difference between the two models is the UTMS frequencies. Can someone please steer me into the right direction? What am I doing wrong? My phone currently has MiniCM7-2.0.7-X8, which works with the stock 2.1 kernel from Sony Ericsson.

Well, I´m trying to change my kernel with lastest version of FlashTool and it isn´t working.

Edit: Problem Solved, just installed SEUS which installed the drivers to SEMC Flash. The one provided on drivers folder of flashtool didn´t worked.

This flashtool(0.5.3.0)can be use to unlock bootloader for x8/w8 too?

firmware basicly is ftf file like kernel.
so if u waant to flash kernel,download ftf file and flash it using flashtool.

I Got this error all time. Don't Download flashtool 5.0 or 5.3 . The Best Version of Flash tool is 2.9.1 . I Never get error on this version.

I'm sure that there is a very important bug in v0.5.3. yesterday i flashed 2.1.1.c.0 on my phone (x8-E15i), after that i rooted by flashtool but when i wanted to install recovery, Flashtool couldn't install it and appeared a window to choose yo kind of recovery that window was empty. in fact i have no choice to select. so i canceled it and installed recovery by x8-toolbox. I like FlashTool but after v0.2.9.1 i couldn't use it completely.

well i had a lot of problems with New version . I Tried 10 times to install a kernel and succeed 1 time. So Back to 2.9.1 because it's full working

the software will allow unlock plugin if I have version 2.1 2.2 2.3 ROM.

I have gingerdx installed right now (2.3.7 rom) and I suppose it is safe to unlock right from there?

Hi.
I'm having trouble flashing the nAa kernel on my x8. I have tried four differrent versions of flashtool and still get the same error....
I've tried 0.5.3.0 0.5.0.0 0.2.9.1 and one prior to that one... I've tried to install the Sony Ericsson programs to get the right driver and also the adb x8 driver in the latest flashtool...
Still i can remeber succeded with flashtool before because I've managed to install minicm6 on it and xRecovery...
Im running windows 7 prof.

Here is the output from flashtool... its from 2.9.1 but all give me the same...

the answer lies here:

That the capital R means that your bootloader is not unlocked so you can never replace the stock kernel with another one

To replace a ROM does not need unlocking. To replace a kernel you need to unlock bootloader. When unlocked it will show a smaller letter"r" instead

I think Flashtool is a very good program for flashing kernels, ROMs, etc...
And now it can be used to unlock BL... Awesome!
Do the next feature will relock BL?

Flashtool does not show plugins with rooted X8 with stock firmware, had to go back to stock with PC companion because I bricked it. Sort of a chicken and egg problem now I have I think with updating since I think I can't use the tools because some things are too old.

flashtool didnt do anything as i said allready.
msm7227_semc.cmd this thing unlocked bootloader

msm7227_semc.cmd this thing unlocked bootloader thanks to all developers

+1 Flashtool refused to unlock my bootloader, msm7227_semc.cmd sorted it on the 1st go. I also tried flashtool with 2 other x8's and no luck, again msm7227_semc.cmd completed 1st time. Flashtool works flawlessly for kernel flashing everytime.

i dont know.... after enetering flash mode it stoped... or hang... :S

but is unlocked now
