Next I used your tool to restore and for some reason it rebooted the phone and it was out of stuck mode.

Then I got the error message of Backup Failed like you said.

I had no courage to try restore but the log says backup was complete thats all. So it works but probably Need to make it even smoother.

Thank you for testing and the feedback.

Can you send me your "log.txt"?

I can confirm this...Restoring to different devices does not work. I tried restoring my Dell Venue Pro backup to a replacement model Dell sent me, but all it did was zap the replacement phone back to Windows Phone 7 (after I already updated it to Mango).

I really wish Microsoft would get off their bums and provide a solid backup/restore function like Apple does with their iPhone.

Till then, I am SOL. Buggers!!!

I mean your "log.txt". You can find it beside the "Wp7EasyBackup.exe"

Lost my previous update
Ok. So I backed up and it seems I have lost my previous backup. Is there anyway to get that back?

Yes, I read it. But I read it too late. Just thought I would ask, before I moved on. It is completely my fault for getting in a hurry. Anyways, seems to be a great tool, and worked perfectly for me.

If you have Volume Shadow Copies (data restore points) enabled, you can use the "Previous Versions" feature on the backup folder to the old backup back. This assumes you're on Server 2003 or Vista or newer (XP doesn't work).

I am using Windows 7 64bit. Are you refering to "system restore"? I tried restoring to a restore point from earlier today, but that did not bring it back. I will start looking into Volume Shadow Copies. I knew someone out there would have a great idea - thanks

Wikipedia to the rescue. I do have volume shadow copies enabled and found mine from early this morning. Going to do the switcharoo and see what happens. Thanks again!
