Why, oh, why, did they get rid of the soft buttons? I might consider the upgrade if they hadn't done this. Sigh.

Because there is no support for them in Honeycomb. There is support for them in Ice Cream Sandwich, so hopefully we'll see an ICS update at some point in the future, or a custom ICS rom, that brings them back.

Are you sure about that? I know its in German, but if you watch closely he clearly uses the capacitive buttons several times.

That's straight from Google.

Here's a video of the hardware button working on a nook color,

If a developer can shoehorn hc onto the nook color, and make the buttons work, don't tell me that HTC can't figure it out.

I've even seen video of the pen function working on the flyer. If they can make that button work, there is no good reason the others don't work as well.

What buttons are you referring to? The capacitive buttons on the View, or the software navigation bar that HC uses?

I will upgrade if the navigation bar is gone and the View uses its capacitive buttons instead. The nav bar takes too much space on a 7" display.

Is it my imagination, or is CarrierIQ missing in this upgrade? Can someone confirm this for me?

Can someone with HC installed give google talk a whirl and see if Sprint killed video chat like in GB? I am really hoping they didn't, that is one major thing that might make me upgrade.

Thanks.

The changelog on Sprint's website says that Google video chat is one of the fixes in the update - HTC EVO View 4G

This update adds Android 3.2.1 (Honeycomb) and a new virtual and holographic user interface.

Updates include:

Physical Hard keys replaced with on screen Soft keys

looks like they will be disabled..will suck if true and keep me from updating

After a day or two with HC you will forget the cap buttons were ever there, they are redundant in HC, that's why HTC turned them off. They could have left them on, but choose not to so that the Flyer would not look like a big ass cell phone anymore.

No we cannot turn them back on for you.
NO you cannot remove the new system bar, its built into the OS.

And no , there is no Nook Color in the world with a fully functional version of Honeycomb.
