Everything works great and loving the new boot screen!!

But...

Where in the blue hell did face unlock go?? I LOVED that feature!! Not that I like seeing my own face every time I want to unlock my phone, but I LOVED playing with it!! And it only seemed to get smarter and smarter every time I updated it..

I hadn't updated my nightly build for a while (in fact, I've been sticking with cm7 as my daily until they got the bugs worked out..), and now that I'm trying it again, I find LESS features (in other areas too, such as the removed governors in the cpu controls, and the inability to use voodoo due to the stock cm9 kernel not having the parts)??

THE ENTIRE POINT OF CM WAS to give us a feature-rich, near-fully-customizable experience, and now a lot of the stuff has been shut down that CM7 had??!! WTF!!

C'mon maintainer team!! Stop shutting down the customizations that made CM rock in the first place!!

I was a developer for the moto backflip forum on m3, so this *****ing is not coming from just an everyday user experience, and I would just compile my own from cm source with the overlays (or modding with my own code), but it's obviously been done a few times using Google source (e.g. oICS and The Orca Project), and I simply don't have the time anymore since I work 2 jobs now!

Can we PLEASE get back some more of the customizations that made me fall in love with CM 2 years ago??

Now, don't get me wrong.. as I said in the beginning, it looks and runs great, as-is.. but robbing Peter to pay Paul (because yes, I've seen some custom work in other areas, such as with the launcher) is not the right way to handle things..

Just my 2 cents on everything..

Peace..

The extra features of CyanogenMod are prioritized lower than getting the system working as it should. Also the CyanogenMod team is looking to remove a lot of the unnecessary features built in. The team seems to be taking a fresh start with the big changes of Android 4.0.

I'm gonna to try to answer your questions without flaming you but it's difficult....

1. Face Unlock comes from the Gapps you use, not the ROM.
2. Voodoo features are already included in the ROM. DSP for Voodoo Sound features and the colors can be adjusted in the included settings without installing Voodoo.
3. No one cares how busy you are, Kalim is probably a busy man too.
4. Developer or not, stupid post is stupid post.
5. Stop shouting, you're an idiot.

I think cm9 is going to be final when jelly beam comes out. This time around they are taking their time starting with a new mascot.

Haha, surely he knew he was gonna get flamed! Just part of the "I want it all and I want it now, but won't do anything myself" mentality. On a side note, I'm loving CM9 so much more than CM7 because it has been 100% stable for me. I don't miss any of the lost features from CM7 and I never had a CM7 that didn't freeze or restart on occasion.

Aokp has most of them i think. The ones i miss most are the flashlight and the lockscreen customization. I HATE the vibrate on unlock. I understand the cm team want it to be as bug free a possible though. And i have to admit even the nightlies have been pretty much bug free.

Not sure if anyone else is having the same problem, But when I go from Wifi to 3g, It never makes it to 3g. I can get 4g to connect, but once I turn that off, 3g wont connect. I either have to disable mobile data or reboot the phone to get 3g to connect.

Was wondering if its just a bad flash or if it was a known issue. >.>

I've been having what may be the exact same problem since version 2. I thought it might be related to the radio though. I'm using a really old one. Is yours newer?

1) I wasn't aware of that. I haven't been devving since gb.
2) Yeah, I found that shortly after my post. My bad on that. I do prefer Voodoo over DSP, though, and ended up switching to the ICS version of the Matr1x kernel for the Voodoo capabilities. As for the color settings, yeah, I found those so I wasn't even worried about that part of Voodoo. I just needed the major amp part that Voodoo provides. DSP just doesn't seem to cut it for my needs.
3) Irrelevant, both on my posting, so I agree there, but also in your response
4) Looking back on it, you're right. But I hadn't found anything on the face unlock, so I thought this would be an appropriate thread to ask about it.
5) I wasn't shouting. Shouting and being excited are 2 different things. The tense in which it was posted can be interpreted either way, but I do apologize for it sounding that way - tense gets lost on the net.. However, please don't call names. That's just acting childish.

I was simply aggravated at not being able to find anything on the subject, so thankyou to everyone for the 'heads up' on it being part of the one set of gapps.

I'll check out the links everyone posted. Thanks all!

Actually, that's not my mentality, but if that's how you interpreted it, then I'm sorry you feel that way. There's quite a big difference between "won't do anything myself", as you put it, and _not having the time to do it myself_, but I guess you must've missed that part.

As for the stability, I haven't hardly had a problem with CM7 with any better phone I've had. On the backflip, it wasn't great, but on this phone, I haven't had a problem with it.

And you're right on another point, CM9 has ran great on it too - no problems I've found as far as stability, just wish some of the old features were there. Although, I have noticed in the latest nightlies, they're starting to show back up, such as being able to adjust the rows, columns, and padding of the desktop. I honestly can't wait to see this more complete and see everything they decide to put in it, or back in it.

It's turning out nicely..

Tbh not sure, I think I have only flashed radios once, but never had this problem on any other rom, or CM7 Not sure when It started happening. Sometimes it will connect to 3g on its own, But when I drop wifi, leave the house and looking for 3g right away, Its not happening, I'll download latest ones and see what happens.

Tethering Problem

Does anyone else's tethering work properly?
(Settings-> more Wireless & networks-> Tethering & portable hotspot)

I have it set to open security and can connect to the hotspot created, but cannot get any data.
I am using a Mac if anyone has heard that makes a difference and using the latest nightly (20120411)

    CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 4.0 (ICS), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
    Code:
    #include
    /*
     * Your warranty is now void.
     *
     * I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
     * thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
     * do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
     * before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
     * you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
     */

    CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

    All the source code for CyanogenMod is available in the CyanogenMod Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to CyanogenMod, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

    Instructions:

    First time flashing CyanogenMod 9 to the Nexus S 4G, or coming from another ROM?
    1. Root the device and install ClockworkMod Recovery. Instructions are available here.
    2. Perform a NANDroid backup of your current ROM.
    3. Format the system, data & cache partitions of your device.
    4. Perform a factory reset.
    5. Flash CyanogenMod.
    6. Optional: Install the Google Apps addon package.
    Upgrading from earlier version of CyanogenMod 9?
    1. Perform a NANDroid backup of your current ROM.
    Issues?

    Experience issues? Please provide the following info:
    • If the device was hard reboot, please provide the file "/proc/last_kmsg".
    • If the device was soft reboot or is "bootlooping", please run a logcat and provide the full output.
    • Please use Pastebin when possible.
