MyUI Euphoria (MIUIv4 based) Translation informations.
Hi guys! Hope you enjoy the ROM!
So, as you can see, the ROM is now supporting more languages, the aim of this (quite long) post is to give some details about the whole language thing, and how you could help translating.
Latest post update: 05/07/2012.
- Added a new and very simple method for helping in the translation.
- Added some credits.
-------------------
Let's start with the most important:
the languages embedded in the ROM (the alphabetical order is based on the languages ISO codes) are the following:
- Arabic (AR)
- Czech (CS)
- Danish (DA)
- German (DE)
- Greek (EL)
- English (EN)
- Spanish (ES)
- Persian (FA)
- French (FR)
- Hungarian (HU)
- Italian (IT)
- Hebrew (IW)
- Korean (KO)
- Dutch (NL)
- Polish (PL)
- Portuguese (PT)
- Brazilian Portuguese (PT-rBR)
- Russian (RU)
- Slovak (SK)
- Slovenian (SL)
- Turkish (TR)
- Vietnamese (VI)
- Chinese (ZH)
This is based on Benson's ML Pack for Andy Thomson's MIUI v4 Port, except for Chinese, English and French.
(
Please note that some languages might be available to choose into the language menu, but you'll still see a lot of system parts and apps (if not all) in english.)
What you should consider: Even if your language is listed above,
that does NOT mean that you will get a fully translated ROM experience (for now), as some apps/entries might still be in english, it's better than nothing, just
give it time to evolve. As a -mainly- french team
we cannot ensure that all languages are completely there. So for now languages that are sure there for 100% are:
- French
- English (Kudos to MarkHUK and MIUIAndroid Team)
- Chinese (That's the ROM's original language)
If you read well you should have seen the word “evolve”, and now you are asking
“How could it evolve?”, well, this can happen with YOUR help.
Credits for contributors of the projet (in no particular order):
- Sethlans (Italian)
- ZaGaali (Finnish)
- Andrei (Russian)
- Inkjet (Italian)
- István Vágó (Hungarian)
- Georg (German)
Now, if you wanna know how to help, please read the following for some informations, it's REALLY EASY:
Your mission, if you agree, is to
be a “maintainer” for your language. It means that you'll have to complete/update the files for your language. Don't worry, it is not really hard to update.
(of course maintainers will be listed and also get their kudos
)
- MyUI Team has set up a site where you can easily contribute into translating MIUI to your language. All you have to do is to visit
http://translate.myui.fr
- From there you'll have to navigate to the APK that you want to translate, select "Edit translation" if your language already exists, or create a new entry for your language if it doesn't exist yet.
Then, it is just some text editing, no special knowledge needed.
Simple, huh?
- Once you're finished, all you have to do is to save the file.
Please leave your name or nickname, else we won't be able to give you proper credits for your work.
* In case you are doing the translation:
Caution: Do NOT replace %s, %d, %1$d, etc... in the entries!
Also remember that apostrophes must be preceded by “\” (without the quotation marks) OR the entry must be written between quotation marks.
Two examples of
right way for doing this:
+ I don\'t like Apple.
+ “I don't like Apple.”
Two examples of wrong way for doing this:
+ I don't like Apple.
+ I like Apple. (This one is just for fun, huh! The only wrong way is the one just above ^^)
The GitHub Repo:
We have set up a GitHub (that you can visit HERE) repo that includes the translation files that we embed in the ROM.
The aim of this being on GitHub is that it would also help the whole community for translations (and for you guys who use it, please give right kudos for the repo).
---------------------------------------------------------
So, with this you've got all the details to help us improve the ROM's localization, and we (and all the users) would be very thankful if you did so!
If you have any question about the translations and this long post, don't hesitate to post it as a reply in this thread!
Of course this post will be updated if there are any changes!
Kyo.
