Killing root does not work with Play Video. I bought SuperSU just to see. Its hard to tell exactly what these apps are looking at. They may be checking a system property for a security disabled boot image. That is much harder to spoof. Well, at least I don't know how to do it. But the root disable apps are only a couple of bucks. Grab one and test with the desired target app. Killing root at this point may be futile.

For donations, check the teameos avatar in the op. Same for our individual avatars. Thanks.
ah was hoping it would be that easy lol. Oh well.

I'll hit you guys up with some cash when I get back from my vacation. :)

This may or may not be relevant but I have been following the TWC App which limits rooted devices from seeing the live streaming and one of the things those guys found that helps to get passed the root check was a change to the boot.prop

ro.build.tags=test-keys to -> ro.build.tags=release-keys
The EOS version I am using has ro.build.tags-test-keys I think I'm still on Version 60 just FYI

I'm not certain what those build tags do but it is worth checking out to see the results on Google play and any other apps that seem to inhibit root users.

That said the guys in the TWC thread also believed hiding or renaming superuser.apk was the key but that did not work for all. The Boot.Prop was also needed so it may be a dual step fix and maybe will help fix the google play issue as well.

Here is the Thread I am referring to:

battery issue example

Just wanted to bring this battery issue up again with an example...

This morning, I undocked the Xoom at a 100% charge around 8am. Wifi and 4G were enabled the whole time. I commuted to work (during this time, wifi kicks off, 4G kicks in). I get to work (Wifi kicks in, 4G supposedly kicks off). I turn on my Xoom for the first time around 11:30am, and the charge was already down to 68%.

So that's a 32% loss in 3.5hrs with it not doing anything.

Has anyone found any resolution to this drain by any chance?

Thanks,
Mike

You have to double check what apps you have running. That kind of drain is not caused by the rom. I can say that with certainty because I leave my radios on as well. And I would be at around 90% under similar circumstances.

Could they be a hidden DRM software that google has in the stock rom, but did not include it in the rom released for rooting?

I use "google play video" to watch some on demand videos using the EOS rom and SuperSU.
I got rid of superuser.apk and just run SuperSU.
When i disable root using SuperSU, i could use google videos with no problem.
Why do you say it doesn't work with Play Video?

Just so I'm clear, you got rid of Superuser.apk and use SuperSu alone as a root manager. And then killing root allows you to watch video? I have both apps and video fails. Very interesting ... ill try that. Thanks.

There is an option in the SuperSU settings "switch superuser app"
After i clicked on that, i re-installed SuperSU.
It cleaned up traces of superuser.apk allow me to only have SuperSU as my primary app.

I can confirm. I installed SuperSU, disabled superuser and then deleted it. Rebooted and now when I disable root through SuperSU I can rent and watch movies through Google play.

Awesome!

On the last couple of nightlies I seem to have developed a problem with Google Market.

I am no longer able to purchase apps or music from Google Play. Previously I have had no problems with making purchases. I tried clearing data but that didn't seem to solve the problem.

Has anyone else seen this problem? Any suggestions on repairing the problem?

I have had trouble purchasing books from Play Market for the last several nighties. However, I did the switch to SuperSU (described above) and that seemed to fix it. I haven't bought anything on the app market in a while so I can't comment on that. I'm on nightly 81with gapps dated 3-17. When I bought things on my phone they synced to the Xoom without issue though (that was my work around until I tried the SuperSU switch).

Any chance superuser.apk can be not included by default? :D I mean you can install it from the market anyway, and a lot of us have switched to SuperSU quite a while ago. SuperSU works very well.

I switched to SuperSu last night and it didn't solve the problem.

I am actually on Stingray Cornerstone nightlies. I reverted to a nandroid of Nightly #15 and the problem went away. Installed Nightly #20 on top of 15 and the problem is back. It's the same with books, music and apps; I get a pop-up that just says "error please try again".

I don't have a problem updating apps and if I purchase music on another tablet it will download to my xoom; I just can't purchase them on the Xoom.

I may try the latest Stingray nightly without Cornerstone and see how that works.

Edit: Oh, by the way, "Face Unlock" quite working about the same time as well.

Did you flash the latest GAPPS and run "fix permission" after you flashed the ROM?
You could try doing that.

I haven't had this problem and i'm not sure what else it might be.
Maybe try removing the card attached to that account and re-adding it. That helped with a problem I had with Google play in the past.

Thanks for the suggestion, but new Gapps and "fix permissions" didn't solve the problem.

I guess next step is to try the latest Stingray without Cornerstone.

    Team EOS XOOM
    ICS 4.0.4 Stingray MZ602
    NIGHTLIES

Welcome to the evolution of TiamatXOOM.

With the AOSP release of Android 4.0 begins the next dawn of the Android operating system. And with this release comes Team EOS, the natural evolution of the TiamatXOOM development team.

It is the goal of Team EOS to develop and maintain the highest performing and most stable AOSP based rom for an array of platforms. The launching point for this development effort is the Motorola XOOM.

For the latest news on Team EOS Xoom releases make sure you follow @teameos on twitter and on IRC on Freenode in #xoom.

NOTE: Team EOS, it’s members, friends, dogs, cats, and associates are in no way responsible for any loss of data or device functionality. Use this at your own risk!
    --

A quick note on Nightlies: NIGHTLIES ARE DEVELOPMENT BUILDS. They are automatically generated once every 24 hours and represent the compilation of the latest commits to the code repository. While every effort is made ensure that the commits that are accepted are stable and do not have a negative impact to the overall performance and function of the builds it is not possible to test every aspect of a commits impact to the overall repo prior to it’s inclusion in a given build. As a result it is entirely possible that instabilities may be introduced as a result of a given days commits. That is the nature of the nightly system, and the risk that is taken using the latest code changes to the project.

EOS Xoom is an AOSP based rom. It is developed and maintained by Team EOS and is the culmination of our own in house development efforts.

Team EOS Xoom Nightly builds: http://goo-inside.me/devs/teameos/roms/nightlies/stingray/

    G-Apps Package
Because this is an AOSP based rom Google Apps are not included in the base rom. To install Google Apps please flash the following package after installing the base rom:

Use the latest available gapps package available from http://goo.im/gapps

*Note - You will need to re-flash G-Apps after you flash an updated nightly build. You can do this before you reboot after the installation of a new nightly.
Also note that if you are coming from an earlier G-Apps package you will need to wipe prior to installation of this package in order to avoid FC issues.

    --

    Current Known Issues:
This builds is only for the MZ602 Stingray (Verizon LTE Xoom) It does not support data on any GSM or 3G only Xoom

    Features:
Because these are nightly builds the included features are constantly evolving. Change logs are generally generated on a daily basis.
Change logs can be viewed at http://nightlies.teameos.org/changelogs/
For the most up to date and comprehensive listing of the changes included in this rom please visit http://review.teameos.org

    Kernel:
    Tiamat ICS Xoom kernel
    Support for OC;Under/Overvolt
Governors: lagfree, interactive, conservative, ondemand, userspace, performance

Kernel Note: In compliance with GPL kernel source can be found at: http://git.tiamat-dev.com/tegra2/tiamat-xoom/

    --

    Installation Notes:
These builds are designed to be installed from your favorite recovery (Solarnz R4c, Rogue, Clockwork)
Perform a full wipe (read Factory Reset) prior to installing this over ANY Honeycomb based rom (this includes all Tiamat roms)

Please note that due to fundamental changes Google has made to the way Android works there are certain issues that cannot be resolved without additional components from Google and the hardware manufacturers.

    BUGS!
If you find strange or otherwise unexplained errors please report them here: https://bugs.teameos.org/ Please include logcats and as thorough a description of the issue and what lead up to the issue as possible. With out this we will be unable to track down these errors.

    FEATURE REQUESTS!
We need YOU, yes YOU to help us build the best AOSP rom out there. Have an idea for a feature you want to see implemented then let us know!
    Team EOS Feature Request

Changing the Stock Motorola Dual Core Boot Logo Splash Screen:
While not a necessary feature of the Team EOS ICS builds make sure you check out the Team EOS Motorola Xoom Boot splash utility in the Android Market:

Welcome to the XOOM evolved. Welcome to Team EOS.

we get off easy on this one. I'm testing a flash zip. All we do is just add some libs and firmware and call it a day. We REALLY get off easy on camera guys. I've seen how nasty camera can be; we are lucky. Now if we can get some source.

    EDIT: Get some cam love

Looks like all makes and models work. If not, sorry.
NO WIPING! Just flash the zip and have fun!

Change logs for the nightly builds can be found at:

    http://nightlies.teameos.org/changelogs/

Note that these are nightly logs and are not device specific. They represent all the possible commits that have been pushed into the build set. The specific branch that each change is applicable to is shown in the change log.
    7
So I am to take it that 98 will be the last nightly we see for the xoom than?

    Why would you think that?

Just because there hasn't been a build for a week or so, that doesn't mean that everything has stopped.

We're not dropping support for the xoom yet, and will continue supporting it in Jelly Bean.

How else could you perfect this Rom is the real question. Not, is it the last nightly. Because as they are saying JB will probably be the next nightlys, so lets be patience.

Sent from my Xoom running EOS Nightly 98

There will be at least one more nightly before we release any nightlies for a Jelly Bean rom.
