So I'll bump this old thread: Is there a set of steps I can take with a Nook that has 1.4.2 firmware on it to get it rooted and a custom ROM on it (preferably CM9)? So far all of my Googling shows it to be somewhat of a risky endeavor. I am not scared to try, but I want to make sure I'm not just bricking it.

Don't even need to root to get rom on internal.

1. Create clockworkmod bookable sdcard.
2. Download rom and gapps to internal storage.
3. Boot into clockworkmod sdcard.
4. Create a backup.
5. Flash rom and gapps; wipe data and cache.
6. Boot up. Use indirects app to flash clockworkmod to internal so you can format sdcard.

HOW?

2. Download rom and gapps to internal storage.

You wouldn't happen to have links to these things, would you?

3. Boot into clockworkmod sdcard.

Pretty sure I can figure out how to do that.

4. Create a backup.

A "nanoid" backup like I do on my sph d700?

5. Flash rom and gapps; wipe data and cache.

Normally, I do this by copying them to the root of my sd card and after booting into cwm, install from sd card, blah blah blah.

6. Boot up. Use indirects app to flash clockworkmod to internal so you can format sdcard.

I have no idea what that means. I only get any of these things done by having MUCH smarter people guide me through in retard like fashion,

Thank you though. This got me about 30% there!
