I get the same thing, no matter if I use Setcpu or No-Frills, nothing works... It shows 1.8 for max frequency but actual is only at 1.5, so I'm at a loss

Are you setting the freq "on boot" within the 3rd party app? I'm using System Tuner, set to 1.8, and it appears to have stuck on reboot.

I noticed that since it's an app and not in the early boot that it doesn't change to say 1.8 until the phone fully boots so you have to go into whatever oc app such as no frills and hit apply. right after boot it will show the stock max but then shows 1.8 is max after it fully boots then I hit apply and then it stays at 1.8 but gotta wait for the su dialog for it pops up twice before going into oc app... setting speed then said it has set up an interactive shell. I'm on mean rom 1.7 anyone not being able to set it on full stock rom.?

No not on boot, need to figure out what frequency works best for this phone, but that isn't the issue, it just seems that this app isn't working for some phones and great for others

Are you using Viperrom? That's what I'm using and it's not working. In fact, even if I try to set the max below 1.5 it reverts back to 1.5. I'm thinking it could be because of the rom maybe?

Version 1.1 available for download in the OP. Major change is a scrollview has been added to the main layout - changelog added to OP as well.

On a side note, I was thinking about perhaps adding NoFrills source to the app, that way it will apply it on boot.. Not sure if I will though

I like that idea but it's your app :)

Working great for me. I'm running the modded boot.img and everything has been working as it should be. 1.8 is as high as I've tried but here is a multi thread linpack score and a quadrant standard score. Pretty sweet if you ask me. Thanks Dread!

Is there any way to add steps so it goes up by 108000 or 216000 in stead of 1512 to 1809. I tried making a setcpu.txt file. It gives me the steps but they don't change the speed until 1809.

No, not using Viperrom, at them moment im running Rejuv 1.5, if i go lower it will go down, but if i go up it only maxes out at 1512. not quite sure what this things is doing, never had one not take on any of the phones i have rooted

I've been looking into the issue of the CPU control apps not saying it is sticking, I'm thinking because this is a mod and not something built into the source that said apps won't recognize that it is there. The apps I use, CPU spy and newSENSE control app, both say 1.5 but, my battery drain and quadrant/linpack scores are telling me it's at 1.8. I'm gonna try some different apps and I will post my results.

Pic is of CPU spy saying that I've been at 1.5 for 55 seconds. I ran 1.8 -1.8 performance for atleast 10 mins while I ran those tests. So CPU spy is not picking up the clock speed for some reason. That reason, I believe, is because the clock speeds are not written into the source.

Edit: I looked at CPU spy immediately after my long post and CPU spy says it only took me 20 seconds to write that post.

Double edit: I forgot to post that using the newSENSE control app (not publicly released yet, sorry) will show it is sticking. Screenie

to clarify, i set mine, and it stuck at first, but then after using the device for a bit, came back into sys tuner pro and it showed the value at 1.5 again. it is reverting back.

also, for those of you posting the ridiculous 5200 quad scores at "1.8" gHz... the quad score i posted was the device stock frequency at 1.5 gHz, and if you notice, the CPU portion of that test was higher than every other one i have seen on here... that test is over a week old when i first rooted the device.

as i said, settings are not sticking. it will be tricky to figure out how to overclock without without building it into the source code as the kernel will just take control over the clock values regardless.

App is based off of work by xHausx, Art2Fly and coolbho3000. You can set speed, voltage and restore stock with this app. Once applied, it will automatically set the speed available on every boot, no need to do anything manually (except apply it with a 3rd party overclock app). I've tested most options and it is working. Be warned, not all phones will be able to overclock fully (I could OC to 1.9GHz but on 2.0GHz my phone froze). Your phone must be rooted to use this app and have busybox installed. I'm planning on adding more features, this is the first version. Feel free to let me know what works, what doesn't and how it can be improved, thanks. Special thanks to dodgejcr for giving me the idea to even build the app.

Disclaimer: I, the app developer (Dread 7us), will not be held responsible if you lose data or your device gets damaged in the use of this app. You, the user, accept all responsibility. You are applying this MOD of your own free will.

This app doesn't apply the overclock value you set, you still need a 3rd party overclock app to do that (like SetCPU, NoFrills, etc).

    Features:
    • Set clock speed
    • Set voltage manually
    • Return to stock
    • Pre-defined clock speeds with custom options available
    • Overclock value will be select-able after reboots

    Instructions:
    • Open app and accept SU permission
    • Tap 'Set speed' and select an option to begin (you can't apply until you do)
      • Custom: enter a value that will be multiplied by 27
      • That number * 27 will equal the MHz
      • It will show selected speed once selected
    • Tap VDD if you need to set a voltage
      • If the value is within acceptable levels, it will show the value on the main screen
    • Tap 'Apply' to set, will reboot and automatically apply on every reboot
    • Use a 3rd party Overclock app to set value (like SetCPU).
    • Tap 'Remove' to go back stock (will reboot)

    Known issues:
    • If you input a ridiculous value (greater than the max) for VDD, it will FC
      That will be fixed soon.

I don't understand it. I grant su permissions but the app locks up on me can't get it to do anything. See attachment. As you can see I can't even see the button at bottom of screen.

Uninstall and re download the app. For now here's a mirror from my dropbox: http://db.tt/PvJqpcrQ
(I'll add a real mirror when I get to my computer).
