I'm blown away... This is an awesome app for icon development. Thanks so much for sharing, and for your hard work on it.

Version 0.9.8 available
Sorry it took so long, used the last weekend for relaxing and finally caught a bad cold (yeah, funny, since it was quite warm that days) which made me quite dizzy for days

Looked around existing icon sets for ideas, analyzed the looks for ways to reproduce and finally did my best to do so.

The nexts posts with contain explanations of the new features. Hope you'll like them

Many samples (not complete sets!) you can find here in the DropBox (previews and zips):

Feature: "Use icon as Mask"
Feature: "Use icon as Mask"

It was already possible to use the icon as a "Mask" to be applied to the template.
Mask means, white areas stay intact whereas black areas would be "cut out". For example a black icon would cut a hole in the template.

Now there are two additional settings ("Mask (dark icon)" and "Mask (light icon)") which gives you more possibilities.
Technically, these settings automatically first mixes the icon with a white or black background and applies the result as mask to the template.
As a result "Mask (dark icon)" creates a cutout (works better in some cases than plain "Mask".
The method "Mask (light icon)" creates the completly inversed result: only areas of the original icon stay intact, everthing else is removed from the template.

I added a new template named "Sketch" to demonstrate and help you better understand this new feature.
This templates creates icons which look like scribbled on canvas, on chalkboard, with crayons or sprayed on Concrete Wall.

I attached samples of icon sets created with this template.

"Chalkboard":

"Crayons":

Feature: "Colorize icon"
Feature: "Colorize icon"

Next new feature extends the Icon Set "Hue / Saturation / Brightness" functionality. Instead of shifting the icons colors around the color circle (http://lmgtfy.com/?q=hsl+color+circle), the HSB-values are used to change ALL colors of the icon.

Feature: "Colorize template"
Feature: "Colorize template"

This also extends the "Hue / Saturation / Brightness" functionality, but of the Template.
Now you're not only able to shift the templates colors (i.e. create orange or green "3C"-styled icons).
Shifting relies on the template containing at least one real color, but "Colorize" also changes the color tone of non-color (meaning: plain white, black or greys).

Additionally there's an option "Shift to icons primary color".
This, instead of using the manually hue-value, searches the primary color of the icon and changes the templates color to this color's tone.

The dropdown "Blend mode" I added since I found there's no universal method to properly apply colorizing to the template.
Depending on the template and/or icons, you have to play around with the blend modes as well as Saturation and Brightness to get the best results.

Here's an example attached.

Effect: "Random Hue Shift"
Effect: "Random Hue Shift"

The formerly added tab "Finalize" has been renamed to "Effects" and contains more than "Random Rotate" and "Crop to Icon Size".

One new effect here is "Random Hue Rotation". For example if you're using the "3C"-template, this option randomly shifts the default ICS blue tone and creates icons with orange, green, etc highlights. Also you can create "Metro"-style like colorful tiles -- automatically randomly.

Effect: "Apply Texture"
Effect: "Apply Texture"

Another effect is "Apply Texture".
This allows to choose a texture which will be applied to either the "Icon", the "Template", both individually or combined, or to the (almost) final icon consiting of all layers.

For example a simple square template can be texturized with a wooden, stone or fabric texture. Attached there's a sample of a "Canvas"-textured tile, leather-ed blackbearblanc's "Rounds".

Effect: "Pseudo 3D"
Effect: "Pseudo 3D"

Finally there's another effect I hope you'll like: "Pseudo 3D".
What it does is to add the illusion the icon has "3-dimensional depth".

Positive values for "size" make the icon look like it's lying on the floor, negative values on the oposite looks like it's standing like a domino brick.
Saturation and Brightness can be changed to give the illusion of shadow or spotlight.
"Shrink" adds to the effect and make look the icon like it's tilted (not perspectively though!).
"Pseudo 3D" can (like all effects) be applied to either the "Icon", the "Template", both individually or combined, or to the (almost) final icon. "Icon and Template" applies the effect individually making the icon stand out "above" the template.

Attached are some samples:
  • 3C (P_C) in 3D: Pseudo 3D applied to "3C"-style
  • Colored Tiles: masked icon on simple rounded square template (colorized) with Pseudo 3D applied
  • Wooden Plate: simple rounded square template, plus wooden texture, plus Pseudo 3D
