Beware the curse of "feature creep". New stuff is nice, but too much could easily ruin an excellent, very useful app, in my opinion.
Agreed. Personally I've always felt that the Explorer and Searcher fell into this category. Everyone that has SD Maid installed has a file explorer too and truth be told, the explorer lacks basic functionality like image preview, so it's not as useful as the alternatives available either.
SD Maid as an investment for me, was about cleaning the crap from my SD Card with ease. There have been some things that I've really needed. Thumbnail preview for Duplicate Deletion and better Corpse Detection as I have a ton of directories left over from deleted apps. I'd also prefer to see Tasker integration over scheduling as that would ultimately allow for scheduling to be done in a way which would keep the app focused and allow for even better things beyond my imagination to take place.
I love SD Maid, hence why I monitor this thread but I certainly don't need an App Manager in any guise. Linking and unlinking apps to the market isn't ever going to be within the scope of SD Maid, that's the very definition of App Management as is the current App Control which can be done at OS level now and even though it's a great feature has no place being part of SD Maid.
Perhaps SD Maid will become one of the corner stones of a larger device manager app. At that point I'd cheer it on with all its functionality. In the exact way that I generally recommend JRummy's ROM Toolbox despite only ever needing the Root Browser app. I would genuinely wish that program all the success in the world and would hope Darken made an absolute killing on it.
