Yeah once this contract is up I'm going prepaid provided I can keep my unlimited data plan. I pay $40 every month for the cheapest cell plan and I can't even remember the last time I even used an hours worth of minutes in a month.

Sent from my crack smoking SGH-i777

I still use a lot of minutes but I'll pay the few extra dollars for the unlimited minutes of the MVMOs.

$45 unlimited everything

Or $30 for 100 minutes talk and unlimited data, which I will move onto after my contact with ATT is over. I lost the incentive to continue with ATT - did that for the 3G band compatible outside of US, but the place I travel every year has a sucky mobile plan for foreigners. I think having S2 around should be good enough.

Getting rid of all of their contract subsidy plans and replacing them with additional tiers of their "value" plans.

are you like me (where you bought the S2 in October when it first came out on AT&T?)? If so, let us all know what phone you're going to because I like your work for our phone. I hope you and Shoman go similar routes. My two favorite guys for our device. :good::good:

I have seriously given thought to switching over to T-Mobile and upgrading to the Nexus 4. My contract is up in February but sadly I just upgraded my wife's phone last week since her 3gs died. I wonder if they would pay the ETF?

I'm thinking of getting the Nexus 4 and I'm with T-Mobile. You should consider there monthly 4G plan and not a contract. It's a $50 monthly 4G prepaid plan of unlimited data, text and voice.

Right now, I don't think I'll be purchasing any AT&T-branded devices for a while, if ever again.

Nexus 4 is definitely on my list.

I'm likely receiving an Xperia T (not the TL - that has a locked bootloader that cannot be unlocked), I need to check with some people on the details of that.

The specs of the Oppo Find 5 look interesting, however I have a bit of mistrust for Chinese devices after the disaster that was the Huawei S7.

I really want the nexus 4 but unfortunately being 17 I'm at the mercy of my parents will when or comes to what phone I do or don't get.

Gotcha! My gripe with the Nexus 4 is lack of removable storage. Otherwise it'd be high on my radar. Well just be sure to let us know when you're done with this device. I find it still holds its own from day to day usage since it was basically a super phone when it came out.

I know this feeling but I used my upgrade in march of this year so I got 14 more months with this device. Otherwise I'd be on the nexus 4

Law? I am the law.

Haha same here. I got my GS2 in February when they were $10 so I've got awhile before I can move. I live in the Coachella valley where people seem pretty happy with T-Mobile and that monthly plan would literally cut my bill more then half (I pay about $120 a month). I should've just left ATT in February but like that other poster above I added a line for my fiance (which is how I got the GS2 before my own upgrade was available) so were both stuck here for awhile.
Thank god this phone is awesome enough to hold onto til then.

I haven't seen anyone mention this yet on i777 forums:

4.1 sources have been released for the i9100
http://www.sammobile.com/2012/12/08...the-gt-i9100_hk-galaxy-sii-jelly-bean-update/

AND

the first unofficial cm10.1 builds have been posted for i9100
http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2036229

exciting news for anyone who still hasn't received their nexus4 :p
1) I9100 JB kernel source is of little use to us because everything that was Jellybean-specific we backported from the I9300 release. The only thing it has to offer is a possible fix for HSIC instability, and, if we didn't have opensource audio in the pipeline, would have let us run JB audio blobs.

2) In my opinion, no exynos4 device should've had builds posted yet. The graphics performance is absolutely awful (I have no idea how xplodwild could claim it's smooth because it isn't anywhere near smooth, other than that anything is smooth compared to the 10 frames per second we had at one point.) and there is not yet any identified method for fixing it. I've spent more time trying to fix it over the past week than I did at work I'm fairly certain. Those builds are full of awful hacks and workarounds.

ATTENTION: THIS IS JUST A PREVIEW. MAY CONTAIN A LOT OF BUGS!
    NO SUPPORT!!!

CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 4.1 (JB), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

    Code:

    /*
     * Your warranty is now void.

     * I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
     * thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
     * do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
     * before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
     * you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.

CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

All the source code for CyanogenMod is available in the CyanogenMod Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to CyanogenMod, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

First time installing CyanogenMod 10 to your Galaxy S II, or coming from another ROM:
    - Make sure you're running a proper working CWM Recovery
    - Copy GApps and CM10 ZIPs to your internal SDCard
    - Boot into Recovery
    - Flash CM10 zip from internal SDCard
    - Flash GApps zip from internal SDCard
    - DO A DATA WIPE / FACTORY RESET (otherwise your device will be stuck at boot)
    - Reboot
    - Don't restore Apps using Titanium Backup!

Upgrading from earlier version of CyanogenMod 10:
    - Copy CM10 ZIP to your internal SDCard
    - Boot into Recovery
    - Flash CM10 zip from internal SDCard
    - Reboot

    KNOWN ISSUES:
    • Everything is broken until proven otherwise.
    • Known broken things include:
    • Mediascanner derps hard for many people, eating 100% CPU for 30-40 minutes on boot.
    • Missing many CM10 features
    • NFC totally untested
    • Anything broken on I9100 will be a problem on I777 too
    • Screenshots are from I9100. I'm lazy, and I777 isn't any different

You want to live on the bleeding edge, you're probably gonna get cut

    Update -
Good news: I found out the source of the problem and built a fix this morning.
Bad news: Severe thunderstorms yesterday afternoon knocked out my cable modem. I'm unable to upload a build or even the fix until it comes back.

RELEASE PULLED. I just discovered from user reports in the N7000 thread that this has the capability of triggering the infamous eMMC brickbug on installation. This is far less likely on I777 since almost no one is running intramfs-repacked UCLE5, but those people could experience severe unrecoverable problems. I will reopen this thread once I reimplement that fix.

To be clear - the bug only affects initial flashing. If you are already running CM10, you are safe. If you are not already running CM10, DO NOT flash the release unless you are running a known safe kernel. Right now, I will only guarantee safety with the pulled release if you start from CM9.

Unless something comes up Monday evening and I'm too busy to build, I'll try to get the first I777 test build out monday evening for 4.2.1.

Benefit of the wait for you guys? N7000/I9100 users are guinea pigs with ****ty builds that have all sorts of broken stuff. First I777 build will have all of the big issues resolved. :p
    42
4.2 test build within the next few days, depending on my availability/time.

Finally I think we've got the graphics breakthrough we need... just needs to be beat on/polished a bit.
