Is that the ICS or Jellybean version of DarkyROM?
I'm not exactly 100% sure about coming from ICS but this method should work for ICS and Jellybean.
1. Download this ROM (and transfer) to SD card.
2. Reboot recovery
3. Wipe data/factory reset
4. Wipe cache
5. Go to 'advanced' and clear init.d scripts
6. Go to 'mounts and storage' and format system
7. Flash the ROM and reboot.

Darkyyrom 2/3/8 is GB you first need to flash an ics ROM like CM9. Then flash this ROM but make sure you wipe data factory reset and format cach and dalvik cache inbetween ROM's. Also make sure you back up all your stuff first. Good luck if you need help juast ask.

Anyone an idea how I can lower the battery usage at this ROM (except the common tricks)?

Well if that is the case you might want to know about bugs.
First one I managed to fix by diving into the settings of Holo Launcher HD. With default settings all the widgets were touching and awkwardly aligned. By changing the " Auto stretch " option in Desktop Settings from off to on it was fixed. So if that could be changed that would be swell.
Second one I've not yet managed to fix and that is gesture typing of second language. Most people wouldn't encounter this bug because they aren't bilingual. However I'm Dutch so I switch regularly between English and Dutch. I set my phone up with English (UK) and added Dutch as second language. However the gesture typing only works with English and the dictionary for the Dutch language also doesn't seem to respond when typing manually. So I guess the issue lies in not properly installing the dictionary, but that is something we'd need to sort out properly before it can be fixed.
I've never edited ROM's but I'd be eager to learn if I can help you with this. And I'll also report other bugs or wish list items when I encounter them, for example I'd change some default settings of Holo Launcher for a more "Android" experience.

Updated ! But I can't test, I have only my Nexus 4. I made this ROM only for you !!
I've just installed the ROM and restored all my apps. I've noticed no bugs yet.
Done a quick benchmark with quadrant:

Hi barome, thank you for updating the ROM even though you dont benefit from it any more! This is really good news since this is my favorite ROM!
But the link on the frontpage seems to link to the old 2.1 Version, maybe you can fix this so the people who update dont accidentally 'update' to the 2.1 version.
