Android Firmware

I'm in Canada and I have the phone with me. Canada use the same WCDMA and GSM band with US.

My phone version is
Build# ZCAMA7
Baseband # ZCAMA2

I guess mine is the China Unicom version, but where can I download the other Chinese version?

Plus, ChinaUnicom is the only company release this phone, where does the other Chinese version come from? Is it samsung official or Carrier official or 3rd party?

search in google under androidjinn.com install-android-4-1-1-jelly-bean-zcama4-firmware-n7102-galaxy-note-2.html

Re: Dual Sim Dual Stand By N7102 to work in North America with GSM + 3G

Can we please clarify which bands SIM1 (ie the WCDMA data SIM) on this phone does/doesn't work on?

From my experience it doesn't work on T-Mobile in USA which uses 1900 Mhz (info on carriers and frequencies here: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_UMTS_networks#section_2)

And it also doesn't work on NZ telecom XT network on 850 Mhz, but does work on the 2100 Mhz cellsites.
Also is now working on 2100 Mhz Unicom network here in China
I think it was also working on 900 Mhz sites with 2Degrees network in NZ

So as far as the Samsung spec for operation on WCDMA on this device of 850/900/1900/2100 the following is my assessment of the status:
850 NOT working
900 working
1900 NOT working
2100 working

Anyone disagree with this?

I am in Toronto, Canada, and I have a Dual-Sim GT-N7102 that was shipped to me from China by my father-in-law.

I have 2 GSM services, and no SIM with WCDMA (wind, mobilicity).

The GSM/WCDMA Slot 1 on the phone works with Fido and Rogers, which uses the 850 and 1900 band.

The GSM only Slot 2 on the phone DOES NOT work with Fido nor Rogers, which uses the 850 and 1900 band.

I tested the micro-sim with an adapter on the GSM Slot 2 only and it reads the phone number but DOES NOT have service.

Are you certain that you are getting a 3G/HSDPA data connection using slot 1? Or you can just use for voice only or Edge which is a GSM connection?
what version of firmware are you running?
I admit it seems strange that you cannot get a connection on slot 2?

According to 60 pages thread in here,

the conclusion is N7102 will not work on 850 1900 WCDMA in Slot1 or 850 1900 GSM Slot2

I already sent report to Samsung China official website, and hope they can finish the update soon

===========================
here is a possible way that might let the 850 and 1900 work. But with current ROM version, it's not working.
http://xdaforums.com/showpost.php?p=37162564&postcount=523

May be we can try flash international N7102 rom instead of the China Unicom one.
I don't know where to find it tho...

I am running a Stock N7102ZCAMA4_N7102CHNAMA4_CHN > upgraded to A8 via Kies. Not the china Unicom one.
I successfully flashed a China Unicom Leaked version hoping it would fix it, N7102ZNAMA3_N7102CHUAMA3_CHU, however it failed.

So I am back at the AMA8.

About Device:
GT-N7102
Baseband: N7102ZCAMA2
Kernel: 3.0.31-499949
Build: JRO03C.n7102ZCAMA8.

I have not rooted it. I don't know if the phone is faulty or it is a samsung designed software issue. I may ship it back to have it warrantied if they falsely advertised that is unit is 3G world phone when clearly Samsumg bombed it and made it into a neutered piece of c$%p.

I need 2 SIMs. I travel around the world and 2 phones suck.

Based on Yanyu's post, it does not work on GSM 850 and 1900 in Slot 2 , see above. slot 1 does not work on 850 1900 WCDMA.

I am very very very sure it is voice only and the connection is EDGE and not 3G. The data is very slow and the E sign hovers over the data signal, signalling an older edge connection.

well, I guess we are kinda messed up with which one is slot 1. which is slot 2

Here is what I believe with current version of baseband

Big Sim Should be GSM only with 850/900/1900/2100

GSM 900/2100 works
GSM 850/1900 is not working

Micro Sim Should be GSM 850/900/1900/2100 + WCDMA 850/900/1900/2100

GSM 850/900/1900/2100 ALL works
WCDMA 900/2100 works
WCDMA 850/1900 is not working

Big Sim: Correct!

Micro Sim: I don't know because I have no WCDMA 850/1900 service. I can bring it into a WCDMA provider and test it tomorrow.

FYI...

I have also posted this to the Samsung Mobile page on Facebook to gain some attention from Samsung. Hope to get a response there and/or other social media streams.

That is CORRECT !

I am using ATT service and can only pick up EDGE signal, on 850 (Slot 1).
Slot 2 does not work at all.

Back to China, Slot 1 works fine with China Unicom up to HSPA+
and Slot 2 can pick up China Mobile signal.

Everyone that is not in North America please stop guessing. Piggylover is correct about sim 1 & sim 2. The phone is pretty much useless in North America. Now lets start to hit Samsung on 2 fronts first there tech support in China & Korea as well as alerting the media.

I tested the phone on micro-sim with WCDMA 850/1900. it does not work.

Just as a side question though relevant, does anyone know if the single SIM N7100 (purchased in China) works on 3G in the US?

If it does, can we do a match across the configuration settings of each?

After took apart the N7102, the Base Band chipset in the phone is Qualcomm ESC6270+ Intel XG626

Intel XG626 supports GSM 850/900/1900/2100 + WCDMA 850/900/1900/2100 without a problem, a lot of phones are using this chipset.

But I can't find any information about Qualcomm ESC6270

The only thing I found is a LG C320 phone with repair manual HERE

This phone use ESC6270 with Support GSM 850, but in this manual, some places says it has ESC6270, some places says it has QSC6270.

If any one can figure out more from here, please let me know.

QSC6270 datasheet mentions WCDMA/UMTS tri-band support and GSM/GPRS/EDGE quad-band-support.
Samsung Galaxy Ace Duos I589 and GT-S6802 (CDMA+GSM) EV-DO has Qualcomm MSM 7627T + ESC6270.

---------- Post added at 05:07 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:37 PM ----------

Service menu did not solve the issue before.
But I also saw some special dial codes lately, like:
#*3476# = EGSM Activate/Deactivate.
#*4760# = GSM (Activate or Deactivate)
I cannot test the situation in Europe.

I also think that while most of the Chinese people will not frequently travel to the US, there must be some businessmen visiting The States regularly. I guess there must be a lot of these businessmen, since China is a big country with a large population. This phone is a special model. Exclusive and relatively pricy. I hope, that some of them will experience this issue and also contact Samsung about it.

I've also found a short list:
QSC6270 family
- ESC6240
- QSC6240
- ESC6240D1
- QSC6240D1
- ESC6270
- MDM6270
- QSC6270
- ESC6270D1
- MDM6270D1
- QSC6270D1
So ESC6270 belongs to the QSC6270 family. But I haven't found any documents about the differences between the family members.
The QSC6270 datasheet has a clear figure on how to apply. I hope the chip is correctly soldered and connected.

Re: Dual Sim Dual Stand By N7102 to work in North America with GSM + 3G

I also think that while most of the Chinese people will not frequently travel to the US said:
It's not just people traveling to the USA, there are networks using these bands in south America, Thailand, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand.
The excuses I have got from the Samsung tech support people so far has been that this it's a Chinese phone designed to be used with Chinese SIM cards in the China market. I am slowly escalating this up with them.
I started with there tech support people and then team leader, who then passed me to an engineer, who then escalated to a engineering support team leader.
They tried to tell me the phone has been tested by Samsung in China and works with Chinese SIM card on 850/1700. I asked them to verify this in writing to me, and they have now said they will get the engineering manager to check with their test department, and call me back on Monday.
I think the problem is that the lower level people don't know there is a problem and just follow some standard procedures to deny any problem.
Hopefully I can get up to a level where they know about the problem, and can get an answer on their commitment to fix the issue.
Stay tuned for more

Sorry I didn't keep this post update regularly.

But I didn't rest. I have already gathered more than 200 people in China fighting against Samsung over the N7102 Baseband issue.

We are trying in every possible way to push Samsung, and force them to face us.

We already have a lot of media following this issue about Samsung's false advertisement on this issue, and we are trying to taking Samsung China to the court as well.

At the same time, Samsung is trying to stop us.

They negotiated with a lot of medias to stop their news on their website and megzine.
They bribed most of chinese video hosting site to delete my demonstration video.

    We will not stop !

Here's two things that you can do if you want to help us:

    1. We are trying to gather as many as possible signned paper to file 315 report.(BBB in China)
download the docment below, sign, and send to our email 631265979@qq.com

March 14th's Galaxy S IV lauch event with a big sign to tell Samsung head office, N7102 have a problem.
I beleive if Samsung Korea or their head office are aware of these issue, a solution will come out very fast.

I am visiting family in China for Chinese new year.
We called the samsung support line today to complain about the lack of 850Mhz WCDMA support.
After 20 minutes discussion in which they tried every excuse why it is my fault, or the sim card is faulty, etc they finally agreed to escalate the problem.
I have been promised a return call within 24 hours.
    Will cross fingers.
