I am starting this as a collection of mods and tweaks I use daily.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  1. Remove all default_wallpaper.jpg in framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk
  2. Remove SD card notifications and docking connected:
Based off V10.4.4.25(US) firmware for ASUS TF700T
    http://d-h.st/dDN
  3. Edit browser key to change default browser button
    http://d-h.st/ADB
Includes personal edition to allow the "F4" and "F5" for alt-F4,
browser tabs and refresh on Xtralogics Remote Desktop App.
I'D LOVE TO KNOW IF ANYONE LIKES THE LOCK BUTTON?

I had received an RMA's tablet years ago and never rooted or unlocked the new one since I had no need. I'm giving this away and wanted to customize, but found the device unlock tool V6 was not working (device not supported error).

I'm going to describe how I unlocked and installed TWRP for future reference.

Unlocking Device
Download dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/EeePAD/TF300T/UnLock_Device_App_V7.apk and run

Installing TWRP
Step 1: (taken from TWRP site)
Fastboot Install Method (No Root Required):
You will need the platform-tools from the Android SDK on your computer. Find the SDK Only section on the page linked and install the SDK and download only the platform-tools to get adb and fastboot binaries.

Windows users will need proper drivers installed on your computer. You can try the Naked ADB drivers or the Universal ADB drivers if you don't already have a working driver installed

On your device, go into Settings -> About and find the Build Number and tap on it 7 times to enable developer settings. Press back and go into Developer Options and enable USB debugging. From your computer, open a command prompt and type:

adb reboot bootloader

Step 2: (taken from this forum)
fastboot erase system
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot erase boot
fastboot erase misc
fastboot erase cache
fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash staging twrp.blob --------- location of twrp blob !!!!!
fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash recovery twrp.img --------- location of twrp blob !!!!!
fastboot reboot-bootloader

Step 3: (taken from this forum)

adb devices [device should detect in recovery mode]
adb shell [after this command yu should see "#"]

Next run these cmmds 1 by 1

dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4 bs=100 count=1
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p3 bs=16 count=1

Step 4: (taken from this site)

adb push rom.zip /sdcard/

TIA.

I replied to you in the other thread, but was missing this info. How can you flash this without having rooted -- you cannot install a custom recovery then. Try flashing CROMI v3.3 and then the notification fix, and then report back in.

Thanks for your both answers. I was looking for a possible fix without rooting and installing a custom rom, for now...
I'm totally newbie on recovery mode flashing, and i'm still afraid to do it even in my X8 and get it bricked! Now, as badly as i'd love to have custom roms in mine Galaxy Note, Nexus 7 and Infinity, you can imagine, if i'm afraid to brick a $50 device, how i feel about all others..

Thanks.

If your not going to root your device, than you would have to install a custom recovery. I use TWRP and am very pleased. Once the custom recovery is installed you could use my installers in TWRP to copy the files to your system. My installers both automatically backup your original files that it will alter and gives you the option to recover to them in case of any issues due to firmware

Use GooManager to install it very simply from the Play Store.
