I successfully unlocked my DNA following the manual and HTC procedures. My problem now is that I can't get to the next step: Permanently rooted and a recovery installed so I can flash ROMs. Rom Manager says I'm not rooted so I can't flash clockwork. I flashed openrecovery but when I reboot recovery all I see are grey vertical bars so I can't flash superuser to give me root.

Am I off track?

Does anyone have any help on how to get any of this working on windows 8??

I need to find the compatible drivers but have not been able too and I've searched for quite a while now.

If anyone has any tips or can help i would be greatly appreciative. Links would be AWESOME!

I just really cant figure this out and I am not a fan of being stock....

So basically flash a new kernel and then update binaries after that and I should be good to go correct??

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

Idk if you have fixed it yet but you dont need a different kernal to update the binaries. What I did was install superuser then went to go update binaries in superSU, allowed the app to proceed in superuser and all was good.

I don't think your app likes paths with spaces, because the commands didn't work correctly when I had the toolkit in a desktop folder. I moved it to the root of C:\ and it worked fine.

EDIT: Yeah I tired using the kernel flashing option with a boot.img located on my desktop and it failed again.

My username is "Sword Of War" and the commands fail with something like this:
error: cannot load 'C:\Users\Sword'

Also, you should add a command in the kernel list box to flash modules.zip since we have to also flash the modules between switching kernels.
I also noticed you can't boot to recovery when your in bootloader.

Butterfly is a different phone. When a new forum is made, I'll go there an make a toolkit. Don't worry :)
Yes please.. I was trying to use this recovery process on the butterfly and it just wasn't working.. can you make a recovery without having a new forum section?

What do we need to do to get one setup?

I have unlocked my butterfly but unable to root it and use CWM... I eagerly await :) thanks again for all your hard work, you really are awesome!

you can just install the HTC Sync app and this installs the Windows 8 drivers as well as some other naff software but it works fine.

I'm stuck also. I'm unlocked properly. When I try Perm Root, it says it will push SuperSU. Then I ned to reboot into recovery and flash it. I assume it will find it.

However I don't have recovery flashed. When I try using the tool for TWRP 2.4.0.0 it opens a command prompt that says error:device not found. This after rebooting into bootloader and seeing FASTBOOT USB. During a normal reboot I can use adb devices and get the device id ok.

Can anyone please
provide some direction?

Never mind I did something right and the recovery was sent and written, I flashed SUperSU and seeem to be on my way.

Windows 8 Support. When?

The question is self clear. Are you planning to have Windows 8 support?
I start using this amaizing tool with a window 7 PC, now i have a Windows 8 PC and the tools say that do not work with it.

Best Regard

I would like to add for those that like my toolkit, PLEASE DO NOT POST IT ELSEWHERE WITHOUT MY PERMISSION!

I have seen multiple sites who copy and paste my work to their site! If I do not approve of it, then do not do it! it will discourage me from adding updates since it is being used for their own benefits!

    tl;dr.

If you post my work without permission, don't expect updates!

I created an easy to use GUI program for the HTC Amaze and I decided to make one for the HTC Droid DNA. I spent a good over 10+ hours to learn how to script, watch videos on how to do it, working on it during school when I should have been listening lol and all that fun stuff. I am going to fix it and up and add more updates to it. You CAN place requests and I will try to fulfill it!

If this helped you out, Please press the thanks button and if you want, you can always donate!

We're sorry, but it appears your attempt to unlock the bootloader on this device has failed. This could be caused by several factors including simple errors in the entry of the unlock token, problems with your device, or a lack of manufacturer support for the unlocking process. Please see the specific error code listed below, and try again if necessary.
    Error Code: 160.
    Error Reason: MID Not Allowed.

MID = Model ID = Your phone.

Verizon locked out your bootloader >.<

This thread, as well as a few others claiming to be "All-In-One Toolkits" etc. should be moderated. Unfortunately this is a guide for early model phones with S-Off and those able to have unlocked with HTCDev.

As much as everybody else here, I'd love to see a real root for the actual "consumer" phone for Verizon. Fair?
Now I take offense to that and your facts aren't correct. S-off users don't need this.

If you'd "love" to see real root, why don't you figure it out yourself? We do what we can to help. Hell, I don't even own the phone and I still try to help. Have you contributed? You have 4 thanks. I have over 2,800. I think we all know who contributed here more.

    Bugs
    - Directory has to have one word.
    Ex:

Will Work. This will solve any issues if the buttons don't work when you press them.

    C:\Users\John\Dropbox\Phones\Amaze_All-In-One_Kit_V2.4

    C:\Users\John_Smith\Dropbox\Phones\Amaze_All-In-One_Kit_V2.4

Will NOT work. Your directory will look something like this and buttons won't work when you press it.

    C:\Users\John Smith\Dropbox\Phones\Amaze_All-In-One_Kit_V2.4

If you have 2 words, put the folder in Drive C:

Ex. This will solve any issues if the buttons don't work when you press them.

    C:\Amaze_All-In-One_Kit_V2.4

Looking to add in the future
    - Kernels
    - More recoveries
    - Makes Requests!!!

    FAQs

Q - Why Did you make this?
A - To make life easier

Q - You are limited on features. Why?
A- You can always make a request!

Q - Will this work on other devices?
A - Only the fastboot commands, HTC Dev unlock (device specific) and the HTC drivers. Toolkit is made for the specific device.

Q - Will you support more devices in the future?
A - If people REALLY want, I can make it happen. I just don't want to make anything that nobody would use.

    Q - Awesome! Can I make a donation?
A - Of course! Do not feel obligated though. If you would like to make a donation, you can click the button on my toolkit or under my username.
