I'm not sure how you can Google my ROM. I still have Android 1.6 on it. I want 2.x but I can't install a custom ROM yet. I didn't use adb yet, since I gathered I could just as well use that terminal emulator for Android, and that seemed easier.

Download Amon_Ra 1.7.0G md5: 8846b53e3184d688e3e8a628ad81074f

Rename Amon_Ra's Recovery Image to recovery.img.

Copy the recovery.img to the root of the SD card (NOT in any folders).

Disconnect the HTC Magic from the computer.

Open Android Telnet Client and type found here

flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img

Once the Amon_Ra's Recovery is finished installing, you will see # # on the screen below the line you've just typed.

Amon_Ra's Recovery should now be installed on the HTC Magic.

Won't connect to localhost with telnet no matter what I do, dunno why.

Running those commands through terminal gives flash_image: not found with SU privileges, otherwise gives flash_image: permission denied

This all happened after I flashed a particular ROM, but it was a year ago, I don't remember which I flashed. Again, terminal tells me I have superuser permissions. I've made a goldcard, too, but I don't know if that matters.

edit: found the ROM that caused this, a few other people had the same issue but no resolution was posted; http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...1#post15748631
