Hello hottesthunkkush
Thank you very much for your guide.
I'm not the owner of this device. I tried to improve internal memory for MT6589 device. However, I use Mt657xRepartiton_EN.apk. Then my cellphone cannot boot anymore. I go to recovery mode then select "wipe data and factory reset". "Mount /data error" message happened. I think the correct data partition has been destroyed.

Could you please suggest how to recover my phone? According to SPF tool, I have some hope and wish to hear your reply soon. Thank you!

Open SPFTools --> Load Scatter --> Select Al ROM Files -->Click On Format (Ignore all warning) --> Now Click On Download (Ignore All Warnings)

This will Restore your data partition,

Note:- Make Backup Of NVRAM Partition From TWRP or CWM To restore IMEI or Find any thread to restore IMEI (recommended) Cuz After this IMEI will be erased, Backup Internal SD files (All files will be removed after flashing Through SPFTools)

After flashing boot you device, press *#06#, if imeis are there then its fine, otherwise restore NVRAM if this dosent work then try to find a thread to rewrite the imei..

these thread should help you out..

Thank you for your kind reply. :):)

I would like to confirm two point.
First, my issue can be solved by flashing new ROM with high possibility. Is this correct?
Second, after restoration, can I use your procedure in this thread to make re partition my phone?

My cellphone is I-Mobile 5.3 the spec is based on MT6589. Unfortunately, the ROM data has not been released to public. I have to contact service center for assistance.

Thank you again to support.
I will try to study the resource you provided. :victory:

Yes issue will be solved by flashing rom with sp flash tools..
Note:- IMEI will be erased and internal data;

My cellphone is I-Mobile 5.3 the spec is based on MT6589. Unfortunately, the ROM data has not been released to public. I have to contact service center for assistance.

I will need your mount points of your partitions to confirm this..

How to get mount points:-
Install terminal emulator from market
then type

Code:
ls -l /emmc@*
press enter

this should look like this
Code:
ls -l /emmc@*

lrwxrwxrwx root root 1970-01-01 05:30 emmc@android -> /dev/block/mmcblk0p5
lrwxrwxrwx root root 1970-01-01 05:30 emmc@cache -> /dev/block/mmcblk0p6
lrwxrwxrwx root root 1970-01-01 05:30 emmc@ebr1 -> /dev/block/mmcblk0p1
lrwxrwxrwx root root 1970-01-01 05:30 emmc@fat -> /dev/block/mmcblk0p8
lrwxrwxrwx root root 1970-01-01 05:30 emmc@protect_f -> /dev/block/mmcblk0p2
lrwxrwxrwx root root 1970-01-01 05:30 emmc@protect_s -> /dev/block/mmcblk0p3
lrwxrwxrwx root root 1970-01-01 05:30 emmc@sec_ro -> /dev/block/mmcblk0p4
lrwxrwxrwx root root 1970-01-01 05:30 emmc@usrdata -> /dev/block/mmcblk0p7

I just need mount points of

Code:
emmc@fat -> /dev/block/mmcblk0p8
and
Code:
emmc@usrdata -> /dev/block/mmcblk0p7

or just match with the points above,
if emmc@fat and emmc@usrdata are same then it will work

Thank you for your confirmation. You are kind contributor. :)
After I get my phone back, I will try to do. :D

May I ask you one more question? Can you suggest how to back up ROM?
I search in google. However, I would like to ensure which one is reliable source.

Worked perfectly

Worked perfectly, I have taken few deviation in the process,
1. I backed the system by CWM
2. Removed the SD Card (I haven't installed Disableswap.zip)
3. Backed the Internal Memory Backup
4. Installed meteos-mtk6589-patched-updated-A116.apk
5. Used 1.5 GB Patch
6. Flashed EBR1 and EBR2 using SP Tool
7. Power off, installed SD Card
7. Booted to recovery mode
8. Wiped data/factory reset
9. restored backup
10. Rebooted phone

Everything working smooth, I have 4.2 stock ROM, and my settings also didn't crash

How does it work?

Hi Kaydee,

This is my first ever post in xda!

Anyway, I would like to say, thank you for a great post. Very helpful. Only thing is, it has made me curious for more detail.

Could you please provide some guidance on the following?

What does the program in the rom edit apk do and why is it needed? Is it not enough to just flash the ebr files using the SP tool?
What's in the ebr files? How do you generate or edit them for various sizes?
Isn't the mbr file necessary for this procedure if we are altering the partitions?

Thank you in advance.

    what if we switch roms.. do we hav to do it on every new install of rom???

    If you are flashing it with CWM/TWRP, then you don't have to do this..

    If you are flashing with SPF tool then you have to do this again..
