Native Linux On Galaxy Tab 2

What do you need:

- Micro SD card (at least 2Gb)
- Computer running Linux (to setup the sdcard)
- Otg cable + hub + keyboard and mouse (no touchscreen support(yet))
- Galaxy Tab 2 GT-P31xx!

Installation:
1. Download the neeeded files(cant post links,sorry):
Rootfs "releases.linaro .org/13.08 /ubuntu/raring-images/alip/ linaro-raring-alip-20130826-474.tar.gz"
Kernel + modules "koti.mbnet .fi/racer123/ubuntu.tar.gz"
2. Format your Micro SD as ext4.
3. Extract both archives to the root of your Micro SD.
4. Insert the SD card to your tab, boot to recovery and install "ubuntukernel.zip" from the SD.
5. Reboot. You should see the Galaxy Tab logo and then black screen with just the backlight on.
6. To go to the GUI, press CTRL+ALT+F1 on your keyboard and then CTRL+ALT+F7
7. To bring up the wifi, run "sudo modprobe dhd firmware_path=/lib/firmware/bcmdhd_sta.bin nvram_path=/lib/firmware/nvram_net.txt"
8. Press the thanks button!

I don't have any otg hardware, so that's why I haven't tested it. But as soon as the touch screen issue is fixed I'll run that bad boy for a test!

I seen videos of Ubuntu running on the tab 2 but it seemed laggy in all of the videos. Is it to laggy to worry about it with a p3 113?

Not working on my gt-P5110 (omap4430 version), I dont know if it comes from the rootFS or something else... I'll wait for the 51xx version, it boot, do something and restart

This is something I would be interested in digging into and seeing if I can get it to work with Arch Linux ARM (http://archlinuxarm.org/) instead of Ubuntu but like others here I do not have the USB OTG cable or the hub so it will have to wait for now. Awesome work though!

The resoluution is probably wrong fot P5113 but otherwise it should work. But without otg Linux is much useless.
