So fail lol.. Been more than 1 month and there is still no exploit found for root? Is anyone actually working to find one or is everyone just sitting on their buts till LG closes this loophole where you downgrade to 4.2.2 root, flash 4.4.2???? I'm dieing here without root.

Verizon OTA KK update has been captured and installed as of today.

Maybe the Verizon updates will help the Sprint guys, and figure out root.

Although even though kitkat has been out, Its only just now start to hit other phones. The G2 was one of the first to get upgraded. Once we get more devs on KK, we'll be closer to a solution.

At this point, thank God we have an exploit because most kitkat phones don't.

I'm already rooted using ioroot10 and would like to download and install the OTA update....my understnding is that I need to root using ioroot version higher than 21 before the OTA.
My question is can just root again even though I'm already rooted? I'd like to root to the latest ioroot version.

The good thing about flashing kdz file is that even if your mobile is rooted and shows rooted in download mode. after flashing stock rom via kdz it again shows unrooted so that we can easily claim warranty.

I'm also stuck on 4.4.2 without root after updating over PC suite (I wouldn't get an OTA prompt, maybe because I was rooted?)
If I downgrade to 4.2.2, then root and upgrade over PC suite, would the OTA survival on SU would still work, or is it exclusively for OTA?
And I hope the LG Backup would restore the apps without erasing the root, because I don't reallly have the patience to start over with a formatted phone..

ioroot25

4.4.2 root is here.
Download HERE

Changelog:
v25 - Added root for 4.4.2 devices. Now works on most LG 4.4.2 devices. Exceptions being the TMO D801 G2 and D838 G Pro 2.
Thanks to @jarari2 for the idea to go through stock recovery.

Manual method below if you don't wanna use script:
Code:
Download and extract the latest IOroot.zip
Enable USB Debugging. VZW users must also enable ethernet mode.
Open terminal/command prompt. windows/linux users: cd into /ioroot folder. mac users cd into /ioroot/mac
(windows users can hold shift key, right click in ioroot folder. Select "open command window" option.

copy/paste commands below.. hitting enter/return after each line.

adb devices
adb reboot recovery
(when booted in recovery, select: 'apply update from adb' with power button)
adb sideload kk_root.zip

reboot when zip finishes flashing. done.

*ATTENTION*
Verizon G2 4.4.2 seems to nag about files being modded or a virus being installed... obviously there are more checks in place to detect root. I assume a simple .apk freeze will fix the nag... which apk though.. I do not know. That's for you guys for bother with

*ATTENTION 2.0*
Want to install custom recovery? It's under beta testing right now but read this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...postcount=5003
no support for D803/VS980 yet until new kernel is built.. everyone else should be good to go. READ READ READ before doing anything.

*ATTENTION 3.0*
It seems that the TMO D801 KK update doesn't allow you to use "adb reboot recovery" to drop into stock recovery... so ioroot25 will not work on TMO KK devices UNLESS someone finds another way to adb sideload on stock recovery. Without having the device myself... I cannot test methods to do this... so it's up to you TMO D801 users!

It works on my UK D802 with KK ROM!
(I just needed to select 'Apply update from ADB' in recovery).
Thank you!

did you use script or manual method?

apply update from adb message gave you a yes or no option? and you hit yes?

I used manual method:
1. adb devices
2. adb reboot recovery
3. In recovery selected 'apply update from adb' (it did not ask for yes/no)
4. adb sideload kk_root.zip
5. Reboot
