probably not ruu's as these files are mainly 100 Mb.....way to low for a ruu. but ota's are good too as they contain stock recoveries
Quick question as I am rather new at this. The stock backup I have made, how would I go about going back to stock no root etc. Just flash my backup in TWRP? Will that restore my stock recovery? :good:
no it will not restore the stock htc recovery, your twrp recovery will still be present. If you make a full wipe and restore the stock nandroid backup you will have the stock rom back, that's all. Thats why i just edited the O.P to pull stock recoveries from fresh unlocked bootloaders !
So how would I go back to completely stock? Ignoring the non-removable TAMPERED and UNLOCKED signs obviously. Can I flash the 1.54 recovery over the top of TWRP if my backup was 1.12?
as of now i cant answer that question. I have no 1.12 stock recovery and can't compare them yet....no idea if there is a difference between the 1.12 and 1.54....but you can always try. When you get the official ota we all know if it worked or not if you report that here
When i find a 1.12 stock recovey i will update the O.P for sure

edit :
also no OTA's yet....
Is there a way to extract the stock recovery from my stock NAND?

Hello. In short, I need a stock recovery to apply stock rom update.
Phone is TWRP+SuperSU; tried to install 1.16.1700.16, but update fails to apply.

I have done HTCdev with http://htc-one.wonderhowto.com/how-to/unlock-bootloader-root-your-htc-one-m8-0154444/
then rooted
Then did S-OFF with http://firewater-soff.com/instructions/
I knew I had to backup recovery, but I did things too fast; too exited, too nervous, forgot.
I would like to keep my stock ROM, for various reasons.
I have tried to download STOCK RECOVERY 1.16.1700.16 from the first page of this thread, then, apply it with
rebooted phone, asked to apply update, it started to apply it (saying it's doing it), then I had an error screen (droid laying on the back, an open door in the stomack, and a red triangle). After leaving 20 mn the phone plugged on USB, and then, mn unplugged, the phone rebooted to normal system.Code:# fastboot flash recovery /tmp/recoverygpe.img target reported max download size of 1830711296 bytes sending 'recovery' (24576 KB)... OKAY [ 1.561s] writing 'recovery'... OKAY [ 0.880s] finished. total time: 2.441s
System offers to apply update 1.54.1020.10 (61.56MB), and I need this update to fix several bugs (in particular a very irritating bug that ... when you have a signature in sms, each time you exit a conversation it will save the sig as draft).
Maybe I could put TWRP back in, and apply the update manually ? (unzip the file, and manually copy a few files). The SMS update in the only one I really need for now. I don't know where the update file is stored.
Thank you.
************************************* EDIT
I have found that /cache/recovery/last_install is a text file saying that the update to install is in /data/media/0/Download/OTA_M8_UL_K44_SENSE60_SECURITY_Bouygues_FR_1.54.1020.10-1.54.1020.5_release_371917spfufr48iy9sp2lz.zip
(bouygues being my phone service provider). As you see, this file shows the same values as the pop-up. Dispite root, I have to copy this file to /mnt/sdcard/Download/ ... to be able to "adb pull" it .
Thanks for your quick reply.
How to change mid to 0P6B10000 ? should we flash zip … or writemid command in fastboot?
