what update are you expecting? That is the latest firmware as far as I know and the samsung update hardly ever finds anything so I wouldnt worry about that

You need to find a root zip that can root the B varient of the 5360 - ie 5360b (its different from 5360 in terms of build.prop which maybe why)

There is no problem with the firmware - you just need to find the right tool to do the job you want

trying to fix this phone for a friend
it constantly goes into bootoop

did all the steps
odin recognises it fine
turns blue (com6)
clicked start
message says
firmware update start...
boot.img

then it just sits there wont go any further




using odin 3.07 flashing european zip


any ideas ?


edit:
used odin v1.85 and it worked

The newer odin has some problems with Galaxy Y.

strange - I use odin 3.07 all the time and have never had a problem with it including using that firmware on my galaxy y

if the device restarts and goes into a bootloop just go into recovery and wipe data but normally as they are wipe packs it will just restart and boot

least you found a way that works for you

wcdma 900 mhz modem file
I am looking for this file all the links point to hotfile which is dead S5360_XXLC1_ATOLB1_XXLC1 by doky

i have used all the other files posted so far and they all give me EDGE i think this one will allow me to get H+ as it used to do before it was jtagged

that is old firmware however because it relates to a specific carrier being open austria I will provide it in an hour or so

you should be able to use any firmware starting XX and just flash the csc from your region being ATO

sorry that firmware is no longer available on sammobile as its too old however I will provide you with the latest open austria firmware

cool the phone was working on 3 network and got H+ if that will help to identify the modem file issue

the phone is currently in jamaica used primarily on digicel which supports wcdma 900 mhz if thats any help

well my network is 3 (in the United Kingdom) and I use XXMK1

I have no knowledge of other networks but the firmware I uploaded for you is the updated version of the one you asked for but that uses austrian csc

There is Jamacian firmware and I can upload that in a few hours

There is no reason why you shouldnt get hspda if your provider supports it and you are in an area where hspda is available
