I came from pac man rom and was able to do a full wipe, flash zip in cwm, and then turn off phone and use flash mode to flash the ftf kernal. Kept root and zero issues so far. Some one please correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure you can do the same thing.

Thanks! Did you wipe in the settings, cwm or flashtool?

Someone help me out ... I have a c6506, generic US. Completely stock on .101 firmware. I want to be stock w/ root. My bootloader is unlockable BUT I don't want to unlock it if I don't have to, because I want to keep DRM keys, etc. (I know all about Backup TA, but I would just rather not unlock it if I don't have to.)

One guy says I need to flash to .67, root, backup TA, let Sony upgrade to .101, unlock bootloader, flash custom kernel with recovery, flash SuperSU, restore TA. http://xdaforums.com/showpost.php?p=51612704&postcount=12

Then another guy says I can just flash exploitable kernel FTF .423, use doomlords root exploit, flash Nut's dual recovery, then flash .101 kernel back. This is much easier but first guy says this will soft brick device. http://xdaforums.com/showpost.php?p=52371524&postcount=7

So I'm looking at the flashable ZIP file and wondering if I can do this:

1. Use flashtool to return to stock 10.3.A.0.423
2. Root using Doomlord's tool
2a. (Backup TA just to be safe)
3. Flash Nut's dual recovery.
4. Flash the ZIP file provided in this thread
5. Flash the stripped FTF using Flashtool

Will that work?

Yes , that is the exact procedure with the exception of your 2a. what's the point if you aren't unlocking your bootloader but its up to you.

My bootloader is not even unlockable, and why does the first guy say this will soft brick your phone...I have flashed this way like a million times now..

Well I did it, and I'm on .101 with root :good: However, after flashing the ZIP and the stripped FTF, I can no longer get to the dual recovery. When I tried to reflash it, I ended up with a soft brick. I was able to do the whole procedure over again and now it's fine but still no recovery. :confused:

It's not a huge deal at the moment because I have no intention of flashing custom ROMs, but I will need it eventually when 4.4 comes and someone creates a flashable zip to keep root ;)

Ok so I have my Xperia ZL .569 Android 4.3 rooted, do I just do this:
1 - Put 'Flashable.101.zip' on (the external) SDcard1;
2 - Create a backup of your phone in TWRP and don't forget to backup the contents of 'SDCard' (the internal storage!);
3 - Flash 'C65XX_10.4.1.B.0.101.flashable.zip' in TWRP;
I also heard about the stripped, where is this "Stripped ftf"? Is it the Generic one???

Never mind i got it, when I extracted the flashable file, the stripped file was with it.
Sorry.

Inside your SdCard you have a folder called "XZDualRecovery". Delete the files inside that folder and you will be able to enter the recovery. I had that same problem.

Thanks :good:

It was just the xzdr.prop file that was the issue. I didn't delete, but renamed it xzdr.prop.bkup, and XZDR recreated the file on the next boot.

Here's the one that works:

Code:
dr.recovery.boot=philz
dr.initd.active=false
dr.ramdisk.boot=false
dr.ramdisk.path=/system/bin/ramdisk.stock.cpio.lzma
dr.gpiokeys.node=/dev/input/event5
dr.pwrkey.node=/dev/input/event0
/dev/input/event1

Here's the one that didnt:

Code:
dr.recovery.boot=twrp
dr.initd.active=false
dr.ramdisk.boot=false
dr.ramdisk.path=
dr.gpiokeys.node=/dev/input/event8
dr.pwrkey.node=/dev/input/event0
dr.ramdisk.location=/system/bin/ramdisk.stock.cpio.lzma
dr.insecure.ramdisk=false
dr.xzdr.version=2.7.123
dr.release.type=BETA

Not sure if that's useful, but there it is for posterity!

They announced it but when will it actually be pushed out via PC Companion. Since the last couple of updates, the C6506 always seemed to be the last to be updated....Hope they can prove me wrong. :highfive:

I agree, North America is usually last in the list. I tried to see if the OTA would actually update but it failed....wishful thinking :p

I just finished creating and testing the flashable zip file on my phone, I'll be uploading it to Dev-Host soon. :good:
