Using Rogers dream outside canada...

Hi everyone, i am new to android devices and to this forum as well. My cousin sent me a ROGERS DREAM from canada, i am using it in PAKISTAN, its got android 1.6
i want to be able to use a diffrent 3rd party rom's, i went through a lot of forums and blogs and found out there are diffrent methods to root thr rogers dream and tmobile G1!!
Which one should i follow ?!!

It will work if the other network is GSM but you will get EDGE unless it uses the same 3G frequencies as the Rogers Dream which ATT does.

3G is not the issue, as 3G service is not yet available in pakistan!!
Yeah, it does feel like living in stone age!!

My question is still un-answered, which method of rooting should i use?? The tmobile g1 method or rogers dream method???
