I think the Nexus 5 charger can charge any phones with qi compatibility, but it cannot charge Moto G with a qi pad because the USB port of a generic qi pad has only 2 pin while Moto G requires 3 pin usb port for charging. The app can get rid of this requirement but it needs root access.
So, my answer is no unless
1. you can find a qi pad with 3 pin usb port (So far I cannot find one.); or
2. you root your Moto G (which you do not want to, right?)
Hope this helps,
