Not exactly, instead of a custom recovery (e.g. XZDualRecovery) we'll get official recovery (CWM or TWRP?) on locked bootloader too (over time with new fw updates of course). A fully working recovery maybe on the FOTA partition/kernel that is used only for OTA updates for now.

I'd think that this will only work with unlocked BL, and the post on FXP's blog also implies that

To be honest, I think Sony will never abandon their FOTA kernel solution, it's their replacement kernel for performing OTA updates, which is kinda crucial for their update process. But who knows, I might be wrong

It's cool though, it just proves to show, Sony really is supportive of their open (unlocked) device users and the developers on them.

Well, if/when implemented, their recovery won't be twrp or CWM. (probably a Nexus style one). We will still be able to use XZDR on unlockable bootloaders regardless of what they do

I'm assuming your device did boot to recovery?

If so, thanks for the notice, that confirms I made the check a little too sensitive on the Linux and Mac install script...
