Okay, maybe this might be a very stupid question, but where is the download to the actual rom itself? It's not in the attachments of the first post, and also no download link..? I'm pretty new to XDA, so therefore the possible newbie question. Thanks

How to install this ROM

I'll answer me so that others may find the solution to the same problem :

I followed the procedure found here : http://www.forum-generationmobiles.net/t56656-tuto-flasher-le-samsung-omnia-7-avec-une-custom-rom (in french).

Basically, you need to :
- Install Windows Mobile Device Center (I used v6.1 for Vista on a Windows 7 computer)
- Find and use DFT MLI (= DarkForces Team MAGLDR Installer) to install MAGLDR mode on your phone (look for "DFT_Summy_Rainbow.zip")
- Get Omnia__8858_Release.rar (from opening post) and unpack it
- Run DFT_WPI_SAM1.exe and follow the instructions
- Pull out battery to force shutdown when the phone restarts
- Restart the phone in format mode to format data
- Restart the phone and wait several minutes on that "Do not plug phone out of computer" screen (no caption, just a picture, and after a while, a progress bar)

… and as I understand it, those *.cab files here (http://xdaforums.com/showpost.php?p=34566544&postcount=4) can be considered as optional add-ons. They're not the ROM itself.

Hello everyone!

I've tried every from the above mentioned link and the result is the same screen every time (see in the attachment).

Where did I go wrong?

Any advice would be appreciated. :)

Update: I just noticed a white loading bar on the top of the screen advancing really slowly. What does it mean?

Update 2: I found out that after the first restart the white loading bar must reach it's full scale then the phone boots properly. :) I leave this here, maybe it will be helpful to anyone else!

    Image update packages

    for the .cabs you need to image update the phone (no need to reflash or hardreset)

    BACKUP

    Before you continue, you may want to make a backup of your device for in case something goes wrong. You can do this with the update tools, but I use a separate tool to have more control over the backup-process. This is what I do to make a backup:

    1. Download CabSender
      It is from xboxmod's WP7 Update Cab Sender thread.
    2. Use Zune 4.8 final (4.8.2345.0).
    3. Setup-UpdateWP 4.8 beta 3 from the archive.
    4. Extract the "Tools" folder from the archive.
    5. Setup the Backup tool to reference Zune.exe and the UpdateWP.exe in the extracted Tools-folder.
    6. Create your backup.
    7. The backup app will allow you to archive any previous backup.
    8. Your phone will restart and go in Download-mode.
    9. When the backup is finished, the app will tell you to disconnect.
      Even though your phone says you still can't disconnect, you can safely disconnect the phone and it will restart.

    INSTALL WP7 UPDATE TOOLS
    1. First make sure you have Zune 4.8 final (build 4.8.2345.0)
    2. Download the WP7_update_tool.rar and install the UpdateWP package for your platform (x86 or x64). This is version 4.8.2134.0.
    3. Download the WP7 Update Cab Sender.zip from xboxmod and extract it. This also contains a patched version of UpdateWP.exe which will work with Zune 4.8 final.

    INSTALL THE UPDATE PACKAGES
    1. Copy all the CAB files you downloaded to the folder where you extracted xboxmod's WP7 Update Cab Sender. The CAB's should be in the same folder as the BAT-file.
    2. Run the batch-file and press 'S'.
    3. Your device will reboot and start in download-mode.
    4. You'll see progress on the screen of your desktop, but it may take more than 10 minutes before your WP7 device is starting to show a progress-bar, even for small updates. That's normal, because the device is scanning for installed packages and performing merges.
    5. When the update is ready, your device will be rebooted again and it will boot Windows Phone with new version and or custom packages.
